We're keeping our communities’ hearts safe ❤️ FRF Group are proud to be part of The Circuit with a defibrillator at each of our nine showrooms in South Wales, making them available to the public. What is The Circuit? British Heart Foundation (BHF), Resuscitation Council UK, NHS England, St John Ambulance, and the Association of Ambulance Chief Executives worked with all fourteen NHS ambulance services to develop the national defibrillator network known as The Circuit. Tragically, less than one in ten people survive an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. Every minute without CPR and defibrillation reduces the chance of survival by up to 10 percent. Together, we can save more lives from cardiac arrest.

Life-saving breakthrough for Northern Ireland, defibrillators have been installed at every Fire Station in Northern Ireland 🚒 The Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS) has taken a monumental step by installing life-saving Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) at all of its Fire Stations across the region. This proactive measure is a resounding testament to NIFRS's unwavering commitment to safeguarding the well-being of the community. With a total of 67 Fire Stations and the NIFRS Headquarters in Lisburn now equipped with these cutting-edge defibrillators, NIFRS has taken a giant leap forward in ensuring rapid response to cardiac emergencies. The strategic placement of these life-saving devices means that help is now within reach for those in dire need, significantly increasing their chances of survival. The impact of this initiative cannot be overstated, as studies have shown that early intervention with defibrillators within 3 to 5 minutes of a cardiac arrest can lead to astonishing survival rates exceeding 50%. It's worth remembering that your local fire station has a defib for when it matters most!

As 16th October marks World Restart a Heart Day, I can’t help but think about the bigger picture. In South Africa, where out-of-hospital cardiac arrests (OHCA) are a serious issue, teaching CPR is crucial, but it's just one part of a larger system that saves lives. The Global Resuscitation Alliance’s Utstein Recommendations highlight the importance of a coordinated approach - a "chain of survival" that begins with public awareness and community readiness, and continues through swift EMS response and effective hospital care. In this view, saving lives isn’t just about CPR - it's about ensuring every link in this chain works seamlessly. From educating bystanders to optimizing EMS and post-resuscitation care, each step is essential. World Restart a Heart Day reminds us that survival depends on a shared, system-wide effort where communities, healthcare providers, and emergency services all play their part. Embracing this broader, systems-focused approach can make a real difference in improving cardiac arrest outcomes in South Africa. We have done some work on OHCA based on the above - https://lnkd.in/d5Xuy7mt #112 #CCC #OHCA #EMS #SYSTEMSPERSPECTIVES Naqeeb Majiet Willem Stassen

Our groundbreaking Heartsafe Communities Scheme in Wythenshawe, Manchester has more than halved the distance to a nearest defibrillator! A potentially lifesaving change for their community ❤️ Previously, the average round trip to a defibrillator was estimated at 1,850m, taking about 14 minutes. Thanks to our scheme, in partnership with Resuscitation Council UK, St John Ambulance and Oliver Cookson Foundation the distance is now 858m, a six-and-a-half-minute round trip. Reducing the average distance to a defibrillator is vital as every second counts in a cardiac arrest. Early CPR and defibrillation can more than double the chances of survival, but for every minute someone goes without help, the survival rate drops by up to 10%. During the project we also installed more publicly accessible defibrillators in residential areas, as eight out of 10 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests happen at home. To find out how you can make your community Heartsafe, read our guide: https://lnkd.in/eztRKxGd We hope this project can provide a model for how communities across the UK can make it easier to get CPR training and access a defibrillator in case of an emergency.

#TBT – Did you know? On this week, four years ago, the 250,000 square-foot Miami Beach Convention Center was converted into a 450-bed field hospital, including 400 acute care patient rooms, 50 isolation pods, nursing stations, an onsite laboratory and pharmacy, and support areas… in less than two weeks! The project was part of the US Army Corps of Engineers' effort to alleviate pressure on local hospitals from the anticipated surges of COVID-19 patients. By calling on years of healthcare planning and design experience, utilizing an accelerated design-build process, and relying on expedited supply efforts, this project was completed more than a full day ahead of schedule. To learn more about how the design-build team of Robins & Morton and RLF worked together to pull off this incredible transformation, click https://bit.ly/3U2x8Is #TBT #ConventionCenterConversion #COVIDReliefEfforts #DesignBuildChallenge #HealthcareHeroes #Teamwork #HealthcareArchitects #RLFaei

Among the projects we recently announced funding for is ‘IMPACT’. Led by the Devon Air Ambulance Trust, this research programme will focus on the crucial role of bystanders in post-collision trauma care. It builds on the findings of the groundbreaking ‘Extrication in Trauma (EXIT)’ study, also funded by the Road Safety Trust in 2017. That work has since revolutionised the extrication techniques applied to casualties after road traffic collisions in the UK and beyond, prioritising self-extrication in order to minimise entrapment time in a vehicle after collision.

Merrry Christmas 2024 ... 'Peace Goodwill to all' #WHAM 'Last Christmas' has made it to number 1 for the second year running and I reflect on the compilation from 2016 which I made when I led our WAM CCG. Thinking also of 'A Healthcare Christmas Carol' with Christmas Past, Christmas Present and 'Christmas Yet to Come'. CHISTMAS PAST - Improving Hospital Care 8 yrs ago we celebrated the 3rd year of a #WAMCCG where local commissioning concentrated on improving local hospital care Wexham Park Hospital After closing a Minor Injuries and Maternity unit investment came with a new ED Maternity unit and elective care centre. https://lnkd.in/esbc_Yjx https://lnkd.in/eN6PT-yi CHRISTMAS PRESENT - The NHS is broken and General Practice faces an uncertain future A new labour Government has declared the NHS broken. General Practice has suffered from restricted funding for years and inability to retain GPs. Royal College of General Practitioners has outlined the stark position https://lnkd.in/e7r6rKZr . I know many practices struggle with uncertain finances, an inability to take on more GPs in the face of growing pressures and record workload. https://lnkd.in/eZ8Ug6_q The Rt. Hon. Wes Streeting MP sent out a lifeline to General Practice on Friday, last minute news on investment for next year. https://lnkd.in/eeHZzDfx . CHRISTMAS YET TO COME - Moving from Hospital to Community. Across the world Health Systems are reforming- integrating Care in the face of ageing populations through the Decade of Healthy Ageing #ICOPE Integrated Care for Older People. SingHealth have announced a new health campus with acute communal and 'Phygital' offer to support patients in their own homes. https://lnkd.in/ekH59DTY . Led by Wee-Hoe GAN a new hospital with 1,400 beds shall be built an acute and community hospital on the same campus and Hospital at Home with an emphasis on increasing the number of healthier life years and with #SocialPrescribing and a person centred care.
