Today's mood is “ Holiday on the horizon”!!! Reflecting on all the work accomplished last year: 📢 Built new teams for foreign markets in the Portuguese office. 📑 Gained valuable insights from employee relations duties. 🌍 Navigated the complexities of a worldwide matrix HR structure and learned from the experience. ✏ Participated in significant global HR projects with local implementation. 🎯Defined and measured VSmart Goals. 💼Hiring, Hiring, Hiring, we are now around 10 nationalities to the Lisbon office. 📎 Managed change projects. 📌Restructuring processes in some specific circumstances. 🧑⚕️Prioritized wellbeing, which was crucial during challenging times. 📝Conducted an internal survey, leading to improvements in benefits, meal allowances, and updated home office policies. 🌱Mentoring my dear mentee, the future of HR. 🌟 Welcomed my new Line Manager, which has been a positive change. 😘 Worked together, always as a team, with "my precious team" ... 🌿 Summer in Finland is now definitely behind us, but yesterday we gathered with the People Steering Group (Jenna Kuusio, Emmi Riihimäki, Aki Stenberg, Milla Lintervo, Mari Jokiranta and myself) at my cottage in the warmth of the greenhouse to discuss the use of data and metrics – and of course, to spend some quality time together. ✨ One of our key topics was what kind of metrics we track and how frequently, but we particularly focused on whether all our current metrics are useful and if they are being monitored in the right forums. It’s easy to lose the true value of metrics if they aren’t actively used in decision-making. 🔎 In a growing company, things change rapidly, so it's essential to choose metrics that are most relevant to us and to understand the unique characteristics of our own data. We went through various metrics, including: 🍀Employee engagement and satisfaction 🍀Employee turnover and length of employment 🍀Productivity and support for skill development 🍀Recruitment efficiency and employee forecasting 🍀Absences due to illness and employee well-being 🍀Experience of leadership and supervisor work 🍀Implementation of diversity and inclusion 🍀Investment in training and development 💬 What kind of metrics does your organization track?

World's Happiest Workplaces named for 2025 What do Bunnings, Air New Zealand, and CommBank Financial Services have in common? Not much on the surface, but it turns out their workforces are amongst the happiest in the world! Is there something deeply fulfilling about working with timber, takes-offs or taxation? Maybe? Maybe not. Here’s what struck me. These companies are paying attention to: ·      Wellbeing (a long-term strategy for mutually trusting relationships) ·      Empowerment (a no-blame environment) ·      Instilling Pride (your ‘everyday’ is worthwhile) ·      Reward and Recognition (fairness) ·      Information Sharing (everyone has an overview of what’s going on) ·      Job Satisfaction (see all of the above!) Research confirms these 6 elements as fundamental to employee happiness (not a Foosball table in sight!). Is it really that simple? Seems so.
