Today, on World Environmental Health Day, we spotlight the critical link between environmental health and human well-being. According to recent data, nearly 24% of global diseases can be traced back to modifiable environmental risks🌎😷. It is a fact that exposure to toxic chemicals can contribute to chronic, often irreversible health disorders such as neurodevelopmental defects and endocrine-related diseases. At Bioeutectics, we recognize the urgent need to rethink how we produce and consume. We aim to innovate sustainable alternatives that replace harmful petrochemicals, prioritizing a healthier environment. By investing in green technology, we can reduce toxic exposure, prevent irreversible health impacts, and protect future generations. It’s time to focus on sustainable solutions that put our health and our planet first. 💚🌎 #WorldEnvironmentalHealthDay #Bioeutectics #Sustainability

Why Measure PM10 and PM2.5? Unlocking the Secrets to Health and Air Quality.. Measuring particulate matter (PM) levels, specifically PM10 and PM2.5, is crucial for assessing air quality and understanding health impacts. Here’s why: Health Impact: PM10 particles (≤10 microns) can enter the respiratory system, causing issues like asthma, bronchitis, and other respiratory conditions. PM2.5 particles (≤2.5 microns) are even smaller, penetrating deeper into the lungs and potentially entering the bloodstream, contributing to cardiovascular diseases, cancer, and premature mortality. Air Quality Index (AQI): PM10 and PM2.5 levels are central to AQI calculations, providing a clear measure of pollution levels and helping the public understand the air quality in real time. Environmental Impact: High concentrations of PM can affect ecosystems, damaging crops, water bodies, and buildings. Tracking PM levels helps in assessing long-term environmental impacts. Regulatory Compliance: Governments and environmental agencies set standards for PM10 and PM2.5 to protect public health, making it essential for cities and industries to monitor these levels and meet regulatory requirements. Source Identification: Monitoring PM10 and PM2.5 helps identify pollution sources, such as vehicular emissions, industrial activities, and construction, enabling targeted pollution control measures. Accurate PM measurement informs policy-making, promotes public health, and drives initiatives to reduce pollution. pc: Teledyne

PCBs, classified as persistent organic pollutants (POPs) are highly toxic ⚠ and can cause various health problems including cancer, skin conditions and developmental issues in children. They are incredibly persistent in the environment, contaminate soil and water and accumulate in the food chain. Even though the production of PCBs was widely banned in the 1970s, existing PCBs still present in the environment pose health risks. Let’s Wise up ❗ Adopt a sustainable solution Today ❗ #planetpulse #microplasticpollution #circulareconomy ♻

Today, on #WorldWaterDay, highlighting the importance of fresh water and responsible water use could not be more critical. 🚰 Did you know? More than 2 billion people don't have access to clean #drinkingwater, according to the World Health Organization. 🚱 Boston startup Folia Water Global is working to change that by making clean drinking water more affordable and effective, especially for low-income communities all over the world. 🥛 With funding from NSF, the company developed a coating technology using plant-based food ingredients and paper as green chemistry catalysts to create a water filter that costs just pennies. The Folia Water Filter is an antimicrobial filter paper that contains silver nanoparticles that kill bacteria and viruses, filtering out dirt and parasites. 💡Did you know? Microplastics harm both the environment and our health. Let's explore why this matters: ♻️Microplastics, tiny plastic particles (1 μm–5 mm), come from primary sources like personal care products (e.g. shampoo bottles, cosmetics) and secondary sources like degradation of larger plastic items. ♻️They enter marine environments via runoff, wastewater, and landfill leachate, often fueled by single-use plastics. These particles are everywhere — from Antarctica to human bodies around the world. In the EU, up to 300,000 tons of microplastics are released annually, with the Baltic Sea alone holding 40 tons from personal care products. ♻️Microplastics are commonly found in bottled water. These particles can carry toxic chemicals, which, when ingested, may harm human health, potentially leading to hormonal imbalances and cancer. ♻️Microplastics affect entire aquatic ecosystems, impacting not only the organisms that ingest them but also aquatic plants, plankton, and fish. This disruption can harm biodiversity and ecosystem stability. ♻️Research shows microplastics can affect human health in various ways. Tiny particles may penetrate the intestinal wall, entering the bloodstream and potentially causing inflammation, immune issues, and other health risks. Microplastics have even been found in blood and breast milk. ♻️Microplastics degrade very slowly, causing them to accumulate over time. This persistence increases their negative effects on nature and human health. 👉Find more information on #Tallinn's environmental news page: https://lnkd.in/djmtEtsu
