Why do hiring companies expect *one-man armies* at minimal salaries? As a **digital marketer, social media marketer, influencer marketer, event manager, and blogger**, I’ve noticed a common trend: hiring managers expect *social media managers* to also be: - Graphic designers - Video editors - Web developers - Seo But here's the truth: **social media management is just one part of digital marketing**—a critical part, yes, but not the entire picture. Each role requires specialized skills, tools, and experience. Yet, many companies want to bundle all these responsibilities into one job with an unreasonably low budget. This not only undervalues the work but also overlooks the expertise required to excel in any of these domains. It’s time for companies to recognize: 1️⃣ **Every skill is unique.** Hire specialists where needed. 2️⃣ **Invest in talent.** You get what you pay for. 3️⃣ **Understand roles better.** Social media management is part of digital marketing, not a catch-all job description. Let’s start valuing professionals for what they bring to the table, not for how many unrelated tasks they can juggle. What are your thoughts on this? Let’s discuss in the comments!

Planning an offsite for the Dot Media team is becoming the cultural equivalent of planning a ‘intimate wedding’ - it started with 10 people and now the list is over 150 people long 😂 Nothing but gratitude in my heart for my wonderful team that kicks ass everyday but doesn’t miss a beat to remind me that we might still be understaffed. We are hiring in multiple positions across teams. And now that you know an offsite might be on the cards, this would be a great time to join. Hiring for : 1. Business Development Managers (2) 2. Talent Managers (2) 3. PR Executives (2) 4. Corporate PR Executive (1) 5. Client Servicing Executive (1) 6. Senior HR Executive (1) 7. Finance Manager - Mutual Funds (1) 8. Sales Executives (Senior, Junior, Vendor Managers) 9. Videographer + Editor (1) 10. Videographer + Editor - Long Format (1) 11. Social Media Interns (2) Join us, we really want to laugh again :) To apply/know more, get in touch : prerna@dotmediabase.com & shubham@dotmediabase.com

Specialist ≠ Entry-level I was recently asked on my newsletter: "Do you find issues where having specialists serving clients keeps quality limited? Being immersed on strategy is helpful, but I don't want to hire entry-level generalists forever" As you scale up your services and hire specialist roles it's natural in the beginning to hire entry-level folks to fill roles like copy editing, social media coordinating, video editing, etc. But does that mean you'll be on the hamster wheel of hiring entry-level generalists forever? No. Specialist ≠ Entry-level I focus on getting high-level specialists whenever I can. Some specialists MAY have entry-level people supporting them but I focus on quality and talent. That way, it's less stressful for me (or managers/drivers) to manage them and it fits my personality: • I want quality work • I am very anti micro managey • I have high expectations for my team
