To eradicate QBS syndromes organisations must encourage feedback, transparency and conversations and pair juniors with supportive mentors. Reducing subjective bias and striving for equal representation are the way forward.
It’s sad to see some people from the queer community who’ve made it, but seem to be caught up in this Queen Bee Syndrome, leaving others behind. Their success is real; it’s been earned through grit, resilience, and fighting odds most people couldn’t imagine. No one can take away what they’ve been through, and that success deserves respect. But the real power of that success is in using it to make space for others in the community, to challenge the same systems that tried to keep them down.
