CAREER ADVICE for the "Up and coming "Empathy Upwards! Towards the leader(s)! Wow, that's quite a revealing & revolutionary insight! But i agree Gary Vaynerchuk - there's very little of that - it is counter-intuitive as you say. And, it does lead to an "Entitlement mentality". Like, "Hey, I'm doing what I can already - you expect me to do more?!!" The "junior person" who goes the extra mile always gets the leader's attention. And, promotion, bigger bonus, etc too! They do a bit more than expected (sometimes a lot more!). They may be talented and gifted but they are proactive and have initiative. They are not worried about "being exploited" or "taken advantage of. They are confident in themselves as well as the leader and their organisation. They're proud of their work/output - because they do good work. Not surprisingly, this is true even in non-profits, voluntary bodies/organisations and NGO's too. #empathy #entitlement #ceos #founders #entrepreneurs #leadership #undesrtandingleaderschallenges

Compassion in society is disappearing.. everyone is on tilt to judge, we see any slight of darkness or unhappiness towards us and we get insecure and respond with with poor energy back. I wish we could start the process to make this the year of compassion, where we ask the deeper questions of “why” is this person hostile, are they ok deep down? And all the other questions one would ask if they themselves are in a decent and nice place in their lives We can show the world that you can be a “bad ass at work” and a kind and compassionate person towards others at the same time … we need to redefine this and this community is here for it ❤️❤️❤️❤️💛

❤Mutual Empathy in Leadership: A Two-Way Street: It's not just about juniors showing empathy towards their leaders but also about leaders displaying compassion and understanding toward their teams. Leaders play a pivotal role in mentorship, and part of that responsibility is recognizing the struggles their team members might face. Instead of reacting with judgment, leaders should ask, “What’s really going on with this person?” or “How can I help them succeed?” Compassionate leadership fosters an environment where people feel safe, valued, and motivated to grow. Compassion doesn’t mean lowering standards. You can hold people accountable, set high expectations, and still lead with kindness. When both leaders and teams are empathetic, we create a workplace culture of mutual respect, trust, and collaboration. Let’s remember: We can’t expect juniors to be empathetic if leaders aren’t demonstrating the same empathy themselves. What are your thoughts on the role of empathy in leadership? #Leadership #Mentorship #Compassion

John J.D. S. Gary Vaynerchuk It is always lonely at the top and between. Empathy for leaders, bosses, and managers—especially those in decision-making—is unseen, unspoken, unheard, and strangely missing. It is as if they are God’s gift to mankind, untouched by any situation. That is not true. Lonely lunches and unlimited amounts of tea and coffee are in quiet spaces for hours together. Try doing that for one day, and one realises their need to be talked to, given a patient hearing, and asks, Hey, how are you? Leaders, bosses, and managers often carry the weight of the entire organisation on their shoulders, making tough decisions and facing constant pressure. The isolation and loneliness that come with this role can be overwhelming as they navigate through challenges and uncertainties daily. Despite their strong exterior, they, too, crave human connection and understanding, longing for someone to ask about their well-being and offer a listening ear. It is essential to recognize the humanity behind the title and show empathy towards those in positions of power.
