To add to the complexity of program capacity in cardiac rehabilitation (CR), even the existing number of programs would be insufficient to serve all eligible people. This quote here comes from Dr. Randall Thomas of Mayo Clinic, “If we filled every cardiac rehabilitation program in the United States to full capacity, plus 10%, we could only serve about 45% of eligible patients. We’d need to have a 1-year waiting list.” Think about the implications of a one year waiting list for a moment. The data suggests that for every day a person waits to start CR, that person is 1% less likely to enroll. Visit chanlhealth.com to learn how Chanl Health solves for the complexity of capacity problem. . . . Cardiac Rehabilitation is at a crossroads. The traditional form of CR via a brick and mortal model as the only option is facing many pressures. Implementation of a hybrid model allows flexibility and ultimately increases the access of these very important services. #cardiacrehabilitation #hybrid #AACVPR
Almost half of US adults live in cardiac rehabilitation (CR) deserts. However, a new study shows that since up to 97% of adults living in CR deserts may have broadband access, implementation of hybrid CR programs that include a telehealth component could expand CR availability to as many as 113 million US adults. Kaiser Permanente has pioneered value-based care in Colorado since 1969. Now, accessible new technologies are creating new ways for innovating value-based care in telehealth. Value-based care is a huge opportunity for the medical industry. A recent McKinsey report found the U.S. will incur an additional $600 billion in health care costs through 2027 as a result of the pandemic. It also suggests that if the health care industry shifts up to 40% value-base care models – we could achieve industry-wide savings of up to $550 billion. By aligning incentives with patient outcomes, we've seen significant reductions in overall healthcare costs while maintaining high-quality care standards. We firmly believe that value-based care is not only the future of healthcare but also a catalyst for financial resilience and growth. Congratulations to our cardiology teams for the successful launch of this program!
Thanks to technology, Kaiser Permanente is bringing new, evidence-based, equitable solutions to old problems. Cardiac rehab programs are just one example. They are highly effective, but only half of eligible patients complete traditional rehab. Our virtual cardiac rehab programs can get completion rates above 80% and reduce hospital readmissions to less than 2%. Although underutilized, standard in-hospital cardiac rehabilitation (CR) has shown dramatic value. Patients improve their exercise capacity, learn how diet affects their health, adopt effective stress management techniques, and cultivate a supportive network among their peers. Nudj Cardiac Complete™, is our innovative, virtual Intensive Cardiac Rehab (v-ICR) program that builds on this value. The flexible home-based, program meets the patient at their point of need with the same safety and effectiveness as traditional CR. And “post-ICR” there is a maintenance plan available to reinforce healthy habits and to stay connected with the patient’s care team. Regardless of the patient’s degree of cardiac need and access, empower ALL your cardiac patients for improved cardiovascular health with Nudj Cardiac Complete. #lifestylemedicine #collaborativecare #vICR #cardiacrehab #nudjcardiaccomplete

#NEJM review article on the history, present, and future of cardiac rehabilitation is an informative read. However, it fails to address the critical issue of physicians not recommending this evidence-based treatment to all patients. This is a class 1A recommendation that has been around for decades, yet many patients are still missing out on the benefits. Let's work to ensure that all patients who could benefit from cardiac rehab receive a recommendation from their physician. It will be unethical to have patients not receiving cardiac rehabilitation while trying to gather more evidence. Instead, we must study the attitudes among physicians on their reservation to give this prescription to all! Check out this link (http://surl.li/rwthy) to learn more. With over 9 million hours of cardiac rehabilitation delivered, Numen Health is India’s first and largest provider of digital home-based cardiac rehabilitation. We too have experienced the challenges in convincing someone to participate in the active program when this recommendation does not happen at discharge or even just before. Let's work together to ensure that all patients who could benefit from cardiac rehab receive a recommendation from their physician. #cardiacrehabilitation #healthcare #evidencebasedmedicine
