Most people think their podcast is about *them*… Sure, you’re the face of the show, your story is weaved into each episode, and people come back to hear what you’ve gotta say. But that still doesn’t make it about *you*! See, the podcasters that connnect the best, the ones that build a dedicated audience who come back every week to hear every episode, and build a loyal base of fans (and customers) that want to take the next step, are the ones that keep the listener at the forefront. Their story connects with the listener, so the listener feels seen, heard, and understood. And that’s make keeps them coming back for more. Most people think their podcast is about them.z but the best podcasters know it’s all about their *listeners*.

This podcast is a constant reminder that you get what you give. Why? I don’t make money from this podcast and most likely will be a long time (if) I ever do, hence it being my “passion project”. The good news is that not being motivated by money means I’m more motivated to find voices that are worth hearing and then sharing them along the way. Setting The Pace has pushed me out of my comfort zone in more ways than one and is a continuous reminder that if I don’t keep pushing, it won’t happen. And this newsletter is another push in that direction. If you’re interested to read more about the ways I learn, fail & share, link in the comments 👇🏼

Doug Meyers has a perspective that might just shake up the way you think about decision-making. In our latest episode of The Infinite Abilities Podcast, Doug dives into the idea of aligning with your inner energy source—whether you call it God, infinite intelligence, or something else entirely. He argues that when you tune into that energy, you start hearing a "voice" that nudges you in certain directions. It's not some mystical mumbo-jumbo; it's about paying attention to those moments that push or pull you toward something significant. But here's the kicker—how many of us are actually listening? Doug suggests that most people are too busy filling their minds with noise to hear that guiding voice. It's a bold claim, but maybe he's onto something. Is it time to turn down the volume on life's distractions and tune into what truly calls you? Listen to Doug Meyers' insights on the latest episode of The Infinite Abilities Podcast. Doug Meyers

The Problem With Many Podcasters (on LI) They ignore their audience. All they care about is their podcast and not much else. So that means... 1. Their posts gain few, if any, comments. 2. They dont interact with the few comments they get. Maybe they think that publishing the latest episode is all they need to do. Or perhaps they see themselves as mini celebs - above the fray. They won’t come down from their ivory tower and mix with the hoi polloi. Wankers The good news is that not everyone is like that. Like most things, there is a right and wrong way to do things. Make sure you choose the right pathway. Okay, this is very niche, so I’m not expecting much engagement for this post. But there’s a lesson for others servicing other niches. Let's see how it goes. Time Taken To Write This Post: 11 minutes P.S. Please repost if you see value - it may help others. ✅

The only way to figure out a story is to tell it. In short, the movement from initial idea to a story capable of moving others to act and to buy? Make a mess. Tell the story. Do the research, find all the things, and try it out. Then evolve that story as you see what the audience finds interesting, not just what YOU find interesting. That is the method at the core of Andrew Davis's signature stories, one of which we dissect together on the show. He says what he finds interesting isn't always what others need to hear, so by first making a mess, then aerating his material digitally and in-person, he evolves the story towards something capable of anchoring his business and changing the perspectives of those who hear him speak on stages, watch his videos, hear his podcast appearances. Everywhere we go, our stories should come with us. But those stories must be developed. Listen to business storytellers dissect their strongest material and important drafts every episode of How Stories Happen. Wherever you get podcasts.

With crazy quick news cycles, all the sports, press-tour interviews, and an endless number of true crime mysteries to unlock, podcasts are a fantastic way to consume all sorts of stories. But before you get into the meat and potatoes of the podcast, there's the intro. A good intro hooks potential new followers while exciting returning ones, setting the stage for whatever comes next. And good intros (usually) have compelling music that matches the tone and welcomes the listener into your world. In this playlist, we assembled tracks with clear cut podcast applications along with hidden gems that stray just a bit outside the conventional. Find the right track that matches the story and makes your intro, sponsor break, or teaser stand out from the noise.

All that time and effort for nothing ... every time you close that tab down after guesting on a podcast. This is not the end, people. It's a start. To reap the benefits of all that prep and effort to deliver your message, you must do more. So, why do most guest experts stop here? And why do only a small percentage take the next step of a quick, bland, almost invisible email or social media post to drive traffic to that episode? Because they have no idea how to strategically repurpose the content in a way that people care about. Be different. Make people want to tune in and take another step with you. Repurpose with purpose and create: ✴ an email that compels people to listen ✴ an informative blog post that hits the highlights ✴ captivating episode-specific social media posts ✴ and countless stand-alone social media posts ripe to be evergreened. Sorry to inform you but recording your episode as a podcast guest expert is only step one. Keep going if you want it to help you attract and serve more ideal clients.

Outsourcing can be a fantastic way to save time. Hand it off to someone with the necessary skill set, move on to other things. Sweet deal. But just because you *can* outsource something doesn’t mean you *should.* For example, should you pay someone to find guests for your podcast? Kirk asked Matt this question, and Matt was very emphatic in his response ⬇ No, you shouldn’t. But not because it’s inherently wrong or anything. There’s just a simpler, easier way to find a steady supply: *Ask your guests* who else you should have on. Bingo. Not only will they name names, but they can even act as a go-between for you, even if only in dropping their name when you reach out to their suggestions. Instant icebreaker. Keep it simple. Don’t overthink it. #BeYourOwnLoud #FinancialAdvisor #AdvisorMarketing
