Thesis: How to achieve "permanent peace in the Middle East" Carter identifies "two interrelated obstacles to permanent peace in the Middle East": Some Israelis believe they have the right to confiscate and colonize Palestinian land and try to justify the sustained subjugation and persecution of increasingly hopeless and aggravated Palestinians; and Some Palestinians react by honoring suicide bombers as martyrs to be rewarded in heaven and consider the killing of Israelis as victories. To bring an end to what he calls "this continuing tragedy", in Chapter 17 ("Summary"), Carter calls for a revitalization of the peace process based on the following three "key requirements": #Israel

After WW II, there was so much Western guilt about the Holocaust that, even though Jews owned less than 10% of the land of historic Palestine, Israel was given 56% of the land and 80% of the coast. And, Israel was given the most arable lands. The racism of that is obvious. What is less obvious to many in the West today (but clear to just about everyone else, especially in the Global South) is that the 2-State solution is fundamentally racist to the core because it acknowledges that white people can take land from brown people and do whatever they want with it (including partitioning it so that white people now have 78% of the land). Let me be clear, white people do not have the right to create Israel and then demand everyone else recognize its right to exist. Hezbollah and other terrorist organizations in arab countries are not happy if Israel forces only dismountled. They want blood, they want to eliminate the Jews, they want to eliminate state of Israel, not less, and you KNOW IT WELL. What is colonialism if not what Hezbollah, Hamas, and Iran spread in ideology? Extreme islamist colonialism! If Israel will be eliminated, the terror and hatred will be transferred. Regional war will broke out (shiite vs sunnite supremacy) for primacy in the region, oil poor countries will start attack on oil reach ones, and than the conflict will be exported to western democracies. Stand for real solutions in the regon, Israel will be your partner.

There is absolutely no future for Israel based on the narrative of its radicals..... anyone who wants to claim territory exclusively for themselves will only find eternal war, violence and destruction, whereas the moderates at both sides hold the key to peace by non-violent interaction and dialog as equals. This is the only path to replace fear and hatred by trust and solidarity and to solve the conflict forever. The only way out of the conflict is thus to learn to coexist as equals and to share the country as one union. There is in principle space for all (https://lnkd.in/dGTAtn6V, interesting data and interesting plan for the return of all displaced Palestinians). Practically, it means in my opinion to go back to the times of Canaan and establish (democratic) autonomous communities and spread them over the entire territory of Canaan. These autonomous communities can coexist and come together in two confederations of communities, an Israeli and a Palestinian one, sharing the country as a union. There is space for all cultural identities this way. Currently, such scenario seems very far fetched, but, the Israelis and Palestinians belong to Canaan and nobody outside is waiting for another exodus of any of the two. www.canaan.community & www.pax.ngo & www.convergence.ngo
