Homeschooling should always remain a viable option for families who seek a personalized approach to education, ensuring that parents have the freedom to shape their children's learning according to their values and needs. However, public schools are the cornerstone of a democratic nation, serving as the great equalizer that brings together students from all backgrounds to learn, grow, and engage as citizens. Public education fosters social cohesion, provides opportunities for all children regardless of socioeconomic status, and upholds the principles of democracy by cultivating informed, critical-thinking individuals. While alternative education models have their place, a strong and well-supported public school system is essential for the health and future of a democratic society.

Of course I fantasize about sending them to public schools on the overwhelming days so I can have time to myself while the system raises them. Just kidding! We usually go outside to play or switch our lessons to a game when things get a little chaotic. …But y’all ARE gon make me lose my mind up in heya someday. Sending your kids off to school is hard, and homeschooling can be hard. We choose the hard of homeschooling to keep our family close and not dependent on or dumbed down by systems. You don’t have to reinvent public education at home. You have the freedom to choose what school looks like according to the way your children learn best. You have the freedom to find co-ops with other homeschool families and teachers who align with your values and will walk alongside you to support you and your family in your homeschool journey. I unreservedly support this and that a universal approach breaks down barriers to opportunity. We offer a free simple breakfast to all students. Tea, coffee, water and as much toast as you want to take. Keep it simple, it’s not expensive to offer. Some toasters, bread and spreads out for the taking and anyone and everyone can help themselves. The available to all removes any sense of stigma or shame and the bonus is it encourages attendance and punctuality. The morning too much of a faff to get yourself up, grab something to eat and get to college in time? Not to mention many of the challenges students of all age groups face.
