I feel extremely uncomfortable in social or work related gatherings where I don't know many people. Ask me to go somewhere I have never been to speak to thousands of people I have never met about Transformation Kitchen™️ and I could talk all day. Ask me to go down the street to meet five random folks with the sole purpose of introductions and I'm looking for the door. When I tell most people I have social anxiety I literally get an array of responses. Some people find it necessary to: laugh ask me snarky questions make a joke disregard me altogether I've been working on stretching myself this year by going to more in person events and meeting at least 5 new people each time. I try to have at least one wing person that knows and accepts me be present. One of my newest friends, Marisa Gee, and my buddy Kathy Love, both incredible #Outliers have been these special people for me recently. Someone that I have great respect for, and another amazing #Outlier, Doug Skoke, wrote a brilliant post a week ago that I just read. https://lnkd.in/eQHCnCxG He says eloquently what I'm struggling to convey. He has a boatload of emotional intelligence. Because the best leaders aren't the loudest in the room.... they're the ones with the most empathy. They are those that build trust and develop diverse teams by creating space for everyone. Do Good. Be Kind. Spread Joy. #DifferentNOTless #DiversityEquityInclusion #DoTheWork #PsychologicalSafety

If you know...you know! Hat tip to all of my fellow introvert / ambivert sisters and brothers. We find this time of the year to be particularly energy depleting. Don't misunderstand, we care deep, we love deep, we feel deep, we think deep. Which is why large social gatherings, "forced fun" environments, loud venues where we can't even hear, much less engage with anyone in a meaningful way, deplete us of energy. So please give us some grace and space when we depart without making the rounds. We do this because we are tired of having to answer the questions that mostly come from a well intentioned place and sound like: ❓Why are you leaving so early? ❓Are you not having fun? ❓Really? The night is just getting started? What we'd love to hear from you is: Thanks for showing up and being you. Hope you enjoyed yourself, get home safe. Period. Hard stop. 🛑 This is my PSA 📣 for anyone who will be part of the holiday party circuit starting...NOW! With deep #love and #gratitude, #bluecollarbuddha LFG 🚀 #youbeyou #selflove #ambivert #introvert #mindfulness #emotionalintelligence #sales #staffing
congrats on doing the work. I get it from my own lived experience And I too have worked really hard at not letting social anxiety inhibit me too. And my take is that people's reactions to me about is none of my business 😆
Doug Skoke- sometimes I even say goodbye in advance- I tell the people I care about that I have to leave whenever it’s time and that if I don’t see them beforehand not to worry. Then I’ll text them later or the next day.
My man!!!! Love you exactly as you are Chason Forehand ! I see you, I get you, I adore you man.
We need many spaces to accommodate many needs. I don’t believe there are perfect spaces (or leaders) for everyone, but empathy is something we can ALL think more about… And you embrace it beautifully, indeed!!!
"Because the best leaders aren't the loudest in the room.... they're the ones with the most empathy." FACTS my friend! #TraumaInformed #TraumaInformedLeadership
I feel on the going places where I don’t know anyone vs speaking on stage. People always are surprised by my discomfort in these situations. I too am working on this. Moving to somewhere I don’t know many people has somewhat forced me into this but I’m grateful.
As an extrovert- This shirt still resonates!
