New Study Highlights Dichoptic Therapy for Amblyopia! Published in Journal of Pediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus, research shows that dichoptic therapy significantly improves visual acuity, binocularity, and stereopsis in patients with mild to moderate amblyopia, including those older than 8 years. Out of 59 patients treated, 82.4% experienced better vision, and nearly all showed progress in at least one parameter. I'm pleased to announce our latest study published in International Ophthalmology: "Canaloplasty via an ab-interno surgical technique in patients with primary angle-closure glaucoma (PACG)." Our findings highlight ab-interno canaloplasty as a safe and effective approach for #PACG—a glaucoma type traditionally not indicated for MIGS procedures. In PACG, canaloplasty achieved significant reductions in intraocular pressure (IOP) and lowered medication reliance, presenting an encouraging management option for this challenging glaucoma type. These findings may be particularly relevant for clinicians in Asia, where angle-closure glaucoma is more prevalent. Longer patching therapy (more minutes of occlusion per day) is not associated with more parental stress or worsened behavioral outcomes in children with unilateral congenital cataract, according to a study published in JAMA Ophthalmology. Since less time patching can worsen visual outcomes in these patients, the report suggests that changes to the current guidelines of patching throughout the amblyogenic period are not necessary.
