Just attended the Scale Ireland Regional Start-up Summit 2024 in University of Limerick! Some fascinating insights shared by startups operating in this region: 📌One notable topic discussed was fundraising in Ireland. It's true that there's still ample funding available, but it's becoming increasingly challenging to secure it. Investors are now prioritizing revenue and profit over growth, shifting the landscape for startups. 📌Additionally, there was a strong emphasis on the intention to create a sustainable entrepreneurial ecosystem outside Dublin, highlighting the growing importance of regional innovation hubs. 🟥 Startup Diary 06/06 I spent the last 3 days in Vienna, attending a startup festival, and I couldn't help but compare it to Latvia's TechChill. ➖ Advertising in Austria is extensive, reaching beyond Vienna. The budget spent was impressive 🤯. There were fully branded metros, ads at every second bus stop, and posters everywhere. Can we achieve the same in Latvia? Imagine startups becoming the leading topic at every lunch table for at least a week. ➖ The Startup Festival in Vienna is very decentralized. For example, university students organize a one-day conference with pitching for themselves, and companies host events in their offices. Thus, the event is co-created. ➖ I believe that TechChill's quality is very high, both in terms of content and speakers. The Vienna Startup Festival had noticeably more representatives from public organizations and corporations, but I would like to see more VCs and startups.
