ChemXpro is fully committed to advancing #sustainability within the chemical industry. In light of the EU's mandates on minimum recycled content in plastic packaging, and regulations set to enforce recycling of at least 50% of plastic packaging waste by 2025, our focus on #innovation and #advancedrecycling technology is more crucial than ever 👷♀️👨🔧🧑🔬 Recall the 3 Rs: #Reduce, #Reuse, #Recycle, which are prioritized *in that order* (strong emphasis on minimizing single-use plastic!) Yet, we also believe that consumer education can drive meaningful change. By clarifying recycling symbols ♻️ and their significance, we empower individuals to actively participate in fostering a #circular economy. Here's a quick review from TedEd: https://lnkd.in/gb_vHcZK

Thanks for having me in your panel Plastics Recycling Show Europe Plastics Recyclers Europe and kudos to our moderator Karen Laird . It was a pleasure to explain the 5-pillar model on how to drive circular economies for (plastic) packaging. We need innovation on pillar 4 (more granular sorting enabled by #Holygrail2 leading to waste digitalisation and resulting in many end to end benefits) and pillar 5(new recycling technologies including dissolution/physical recycling (such as PureCycle Technologies and more solvent based purification technologies including mechanical recycling with decontamination technologies using solvent washing). At the end we need all 3 recycling technologies: -mechanical -dissolution and -chemical! #PGemployee Alliance to End Plastic Waste AIM - European Brands Association
Plastics recycling technologies advance at a fast pace 🏭♻️ In Hall 11, Justin Wood (Alliance to End Plastic Waste), Gian De Belder (Procter & Gamble) Dr. Manica Ulcnik-Krump (Interzero) and Gaspard Duthilleul (Greyparrot) are immersed in a lively panel discussion on cutting-edge solutions in the recycling industry. Come listen to it, you can ask your questions at the end! #PRSE2024 #PlasticRecycling

"We need to shift away from our focus of what happens to your yogurt cup after it's been thrown away, and look and how and why it was made in the first place, from how our products are made and packaged to rules that reduce everyone's plastic use." Below PBS clip is nine minutes long and well worth watching. Big industry has pushed the recycling narrative for decades to great effect, but the inconvenient (and horrifically destructive) fact is that most plastics are not recycled (also because much of it cannot be recycled to begin with). Consumers (who recycle to the best of their abilities) cannot solve anything by recycling (other than suppressing one's own feeling of guilt) - the solution lies with big industry ... and they will only change their practices, of course, if they're mandated to do so. We need plastics laws. Watch the 9min clip to get an overview of the challenge and the insideous history. Watch this 53min PBS documentary called 'Plastic Wars' > https://lnkd.in/dAic7zSe for more detail. It's from four years ago ... and know that in the time between then and now plastics production has only continued to increase. (see Statista's worlwide production of plastics chart here https://lnkd.in/dN2XVNTu. ) To make matters worse, I've just read that the food plastic packaging market (one aspect of the overall challenge) is expected to grow by 15% annually. We just celebrated Earth Day and EARTHDAY.ORG's call to action for this year was 'Planet vs. Plastics' - read about it here > https://lnkd.in/d5B4Uy9c The demands are right, the big industry lobbies, on the other hands, remain as powerful as ever.
