The size of the spill about 35 square km What is the source of the oil (natural or anthropogenic)❓ The image shows a sheen on the water's surface with a distinct geometric form, often indicative of an anthropogenic (human-caused) source. The wide tail suggests a moving source, and the lack of dissolution at the end might indicate a recent spill. With the stormy season upon us, and relatively cooler temperatures, it makes it more comfortable to be more physically active outdoors in the Maltese islands. Speedy melting of #glaciers caused by #heatwave and intermittent rains in different areas of #GilgitBaltistan triggered flash #floods in streams, nullahs and rivers, sweeping away a wooden bridge, damaging another, blocking roads and stranding local and foreign tourists in different areas of the region. Flash floods also damaged crops, agriculture land, uprooted trees and disconnected several villages from other GB areas. Officials of the local adm­inistration said a flash flood swept away a wooden bridge linking Finna village with other areas. Spots of sea surface pollution of an unknown substance about 38 km from Haifa and an area of about 100 square kilometers (almost twice the area of the city of Haifa). The long straight geometric forms of the spots point on the #anthropogenic source, most likely during the movement. The spot was observed on 08.06.2024 around 8:30 am in the #Sentinel2 image (link to the image in the first comment) thanks to Sentinel Hub. It is not clear what happened to these pollution spots.
