Last week, during the CIGRE Paris Session 2024, our colleague Lizeth Tamayo presented our paper on 'Experiences of Distributed Energy Resources Integration in the Colombian Energy Market.' This paper, prepared by Lina Acevedo and me, highlights Colombia's progress in integrating distributed energy resources (DER) to align with Paris Agreement commitments. The transformation involves updating the political and regulatory framework to incentivize investment through market incentives, promoting innovation, and exploring the role of Distribution System Operators. However, challenges such as low DER penetration, the need for a stronger institutional framework, and advancements in technology remain.

On Tuesday the 18th of June he will speak about how to rebuild the EU's energy infrastructure learning from Dutch mistakes for European solutions. Something to be proud of. But we are feeling the pain right now. BIG TIME! Businesses are facing severe grid congestion and price volatility like never seen before. Energy availability and price predictability are key for sustainable economic European growth. The transition to renewables and electrification of transport and heating is only going to make things worse for businesses in the short to medium term. In Germany and UK, amongst other countries, we see the same 'Dutch' scenario repeating itself in slow motion. What can we learn from it? Will this cause a dramatic cost increase for energy across the continent? The short answer is: NO. There are solutions, becoming more sustainable and powering your business with Batteries and EMS actually has a business model already.
