What sparked your interest in sustainability? 🌱#sujatasays My interest in sustainability was sparked by my passion for health and the deep connection between our well-being and the health of the planet. As someone who believes that "the right food can heal," I started exploring sustainable, local, and traditional foods—especially millets—and their role in supporting both personal and planetary health. The realization that our food choices impact not only our bodies but also our ecosystems motivated me to dive deeper. Small, conscious choices like incorporating more plant-based, local, and unprocessed foods into our diets can contribute to a sustainable future. I became a Millet Coach and a Holistic Health Educator to advocate for these shifts, encouraging others to adopt more sustainable, mindful eating habits that honor both our bodies and the earth. Every step we take, from reducing food waste to embracing nutrient-rich grains like millets, is a step towards a healthier, more sustainable world. Let's continue inspiring each other to take these small steps, because together, we can make a big impact. #GreenerTogether #Sustainability #WholesomeLiving #MilletCoach #LinkedInNewsIndia #friends4life #inuswebelieve Divya Pathak

🌱 The Indian Way of Eating: A Sustainable Model for the Planet 🌍 A recent WWF report highlights the urgency of shifting towards more sustainable food habits. Interestingly, the traditional Indian way of eating already embraces many of the key principles for a healthier planet. Here’s why: 1️⃣ Predominantly Plant-Based: A large portion of Indian diets is plant-based, reducing our carbon footprint and supporting the environment. In fact, switching to plant-based diets can lower global greenhouse gas emissions significantly. 🌾 2️⃣ Local & Seasonal Ingredients: Traditional Indian meals rely on fresh, seasonal, and locally sourced ingredients, naturally reducing the environmental cost of food transport and storage. Eating seasonally also means fewer artificial farming methods. 🥬🍅 3️⃣ Zero-Waste Cooking: From turning vegetable peels into chutneys to creatively using leftovers, Indian households practice sustainable cooking methods that reduce food waste—a critical issue for the environment. 🍽️♻️ 4️⃣ Diverse Grains & Pulses: Indian cuisine champions grains like millets and lentils, which are drought-resistant and require fewer resources to grow, making them a more sustainable choice. 🌾 5️⃣ Less Processed Food: Whole foods take center stage in Indian kitchens. With minimal reliance on processed goods, traditional diets reduce the energy-intensive processes and plastic waste linked to packaged foods. 🍛 As the world grapples with climate change, these time-tested eating habits offer us valuable lessons in sustainability. It’s fascinating to see how food choices can positively impact both our health and the planet. Let’s make conscious, mindful decisions—every meal counts! 🌍✨ Let's IDlish ☕ Cafe IDlish - | Idli | Dosa | Relish | #Sustainability #IndianFood #PlantBased #FoodForThePlanet #WWF #SustainableEating #HealthyLiving #ClimateAction #healthyfood Times of India WWF

The WWF’s Living Planet Report states that India has the most sustainable eating habits among large economies. If everyone followed India's food patterns, the world would need only 0.84 Earths by 2050 to produce enough food. In contrast, if we adopted Argentina's habits, it would take 7.4 Earths! India’s efforts to promote nutritious millet are also praised as good for health and the environment. Overall, healthier and more sustainable diets can help free up land for nature restoration and better support the planet. 👀 Interestingly, India is also becoming the diabetes capital. This is because some large corporations are selling their idea of food to India, and many of us are falling for it for sheer convenience. 🍀 The food, or "Anna" or "Ahaar" in the Indian context, is meant to provide us with nutrients, sustain the Prana or life force within us, and help us to grow. 🙏 👉 Food is not entertainment. Once we understand the difference, we can take pride in our sustainable eating habits. Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/g4zWknpR

Exciting news for sustainability enthusiasts! 🌱 According to the latest WWF Living Planet Report 2024, India has been recognized as having one of the most sustainable food consumption patterns globally. 🇮🇳 India’s plant-based diet, which focuses on grains like millets and pulses, has one of the lowest carbon footprints, requiring only 0.84 Earths to meet food production demands by 2050. In contrast, countries with meat-heavy diets, such as the U.S. and Argentina, would need multiple Earths to sustain their food production! This report highlights the significant environmental benefits of traditional Indian dietary habits, positioning India as a role model for other nations aiming to reduce the carbon footprint of their food systems. 🌍 It’s a reminder that what we eat not only impacts our health but also the health of our planet. Let’s continue to embrace sustainable eating practices! #Sustainability #ClimateAction #FoodForThePlanet #PlantBasedDiet #India #WWFReport Sources: WWF, ABP News, Times of India
