“Employees want to understand future career opportunities, and what skills, competencies, and capabilities they need to get there. [...] Companies that can’t help answer some element of these critical questions will lose out on great talent.” It is interesting to think about the "how" of upskilling in organizations. As this article states, upskilling can help with employee retention. But ultimately, these programs should aim towards some larger goal or purpose. Otherwise, skills go to no use. One case study I saw recently was a company investing in upskilling and even had some excellent incentives through salary increases for completing some certifications. At that same time, I wonder if those skills were going towards any actual business operation or work that it could be applied to, besides a generic employable skill that can be added to a resume. My take is that it helps to have a learning organizational culture so ideas and current pressures of what is needed by your group is more clear to everyone. https://lnkd.in/e_d4xZCJ

Today kicks off Learning at Work Week, and I want to talk a bit about the importance of offering upskilling opportunities to employees. By providing upskilling resources to your employees, you empower your team to master new technologies, methodologies, and best practices, ensuring your organization remains competitive. Not only does upskilling help them in their career journey, but it also helps your business thrive. After all, it can be difficult for hiring managers to fill in certain skill gaps. Instead of waiting around for someone with every technical skill you need, you can always provide them with opportunities to learn and develop those skills. It's also important to note that upskilling employees doesn't just improve their technical skills—it can also boost employee engagement and productivity. This positive environment fosters a culture of continuous improvement and innovation. #LearningAtWorkWeek #EmployeeUpskilling #ContinuousLearning

Have you noticed that it’s been harder to find new talent lately? The situation in the candidate market is complex and company requirements are constantly changing. Fortunately, there are two methods – Upskilling and Reskilling – that will help you “find” the right candidate among those who are already working with you! Today we’ll talk about Upskilling ⬆️ Upskilling is the process of teaching employees new skills. Thanks to Upskilling, you can bring your employee up to the desired level, rather than look for a new one. But this method also has additional advantages. Lack of career growth is a major driver of employee turnover, regardless of industry. Therefore, upgrading employees’ qualifications and positions is also about maintaining their loyalty and engagement, as well as the learning and development opportunities that employees strive for. So, it’s a win-win situation 🙌 Do you already see the future head of the department among your colleagues?
