Keep your relationships with youth positive and remember that your relationships are more important than youths’ compliance with your demands. Avoid getting into power struggles by asking yourself, “Do I really need this person to do what I say right now?” If there is not an immediate safety issue, take a deep breath and step back. Sometimes youth just need a moment to figure out what they want or need in order to move forward. May is National Speech-Language-Hearing month! Nearly 1 in 12 children ages 3-17 have voice, speech, language, or swallowing disabilities. Our expert team is here with tips to help your child succeed: • Read the same book to your child many times to help your child learn the story. When they’re ready, add a longer pause to encourage your child to say the next word. • Encourage your child to talk about anything and everything! Name the mismatched toys at the bottom of your child’s toybox, the handful of random items in the center console of your car, food in your pantry, or a travel magazine in a waiting room with pictures of nature and animals. Culture. I recently had a good friend tell me that setting the tone wouldn't affect our little group. Myself, New York Red Bulls, Sir Alex Furguson, and Jurgen Klopp couldn't disagree more, respectfully. Schein's Culture Model at Work: Level 1 - Core Assumptions aka "What We Believe": Giving of myself for others regardless of what they can get me creates the best environment for all Level 2 - Espoused Values or "What We Say": I will give of myself for others regardless of what they can get me Level 3 - Behaviour and Artifacts or "What We Do": See the clip below How you treat people matters everywhere you go, people are always taking notes silently. Oh, and would you look at what it means to the kids.
