Farmers want to boost productivity while safeguarding their land for future generations--that’s a top priority, according to the 'Global Farmer Insights' study from McKinsey & Company. With an estimated 1 billion more people to feed by mid-century, strategic collaboration is crucial—but now is the time for action. We must drive productivity and deliver better outcomes for farmers through science-based innovations and regenerative practices. At Bayer, we envision a future where regenerative agriculture is at the core of farming. It's not about a single tool or technology—our approach integrates digital tools, biotechnology, and regenerative practices like crop rotation and no-till farming. But to scale these solutions, we need a supportive regulatory framework that encourages research and international collaboration. As co-chair of the B20 Sustainable Food Systems & Agriculture Task Force, we shared policy recommendations for advancing a sustainable global food system. In an article last month, I delve into the role of international cooperation and the importance of expanding access to modern farming technologies. https://lnkd.in/g3vgvZAi

Like any business, farms require data to make decisions that help them reduce their environmental impact and improve their bottom line. However, the technology to track things like soil health and data for organic certification is often inaccessible to small-scale farmers. LiteFarm, a recent recipient of Scotiabank's Net-Zero Research Fund, is working to change that by putting those data management tools in the hands of farmers. Read how their free app is enabling small farmers to succeed, think sustainably and support researchers.
