Our highlight of the Dutch Grand Prix? Seeing our team have fun and connect with each other and our partner, the Aston Martin F1 Team. Not only did we gather together in the stands, but a lucky few got the opportunity to get up close to the teams and cars behind the race. More than just finding the best talent for our team, at Circle8, we also focus on retaining, growing and advancing our employees. Part of that is building a culture that gives people opportunities to thrive, explore new challenges, and experience the excitement that comes with being part of something special. 'We have got players who abdicate responsibility.' Former Scotland Prop Peter Wright publicly criticised the national team this weekend after their shock loss to Italy. In any team sport, there is a collective outcome... Winning or losing a match is the culmination of individual performances. However, all the individual performances are deeply interconnected. This is where ownership comes in. Each player has to take responsibility for their link in the team's symbolic chain. One weak link in the chain can see a team's performance dip dramatically. When each player takes full ownership of their role, it strengthens the team's cohesion and amplifies everyone's efforts. This ownership means being physically and mentally prepared, understanding your duties within the team's strategy, and executing them to the best of your ability. Taking responsibility also means being accountable for your actions during the game. It's about making conscious decisions that benefit the team, admitting to and learning from mistakes, and celebrating successes as a shared achievement. This level of accountability fosters a culture of trust among teammates. Knowing that every team member is fully invested in their role builds confidence in each other's abilities and strengthens the collective resolve to succeed. #sixnations #teamwork #teamdynamics

Here I am, looking somewhat bewildered, totally out of my depth trying to change a tyre on a formula 1 car. Not your ordinary day at work but one that sticks in the memory over just how stinking hard it was to change those tyres, especially as we were on the clock! This is 2006 (ish), I work for Red Bull, and we've been flown to Austria for a team building event and annual company gathering. These were regular affairs for the company back then - they probably still are in Red Bull to this day. Those moments live long in the memory and taught us valuable lessons like the importance of teamwork, the value of practice, and that a little healthy competition between teams is a really good thing. Roll forward nearly two decades and I regularly reference Formula One pit-teams as an epitome of a high performing team. Exceptional, consisent, disciplined performance anchored in continuous improvement. Pit teams have it all going for them. Focus, excellence, the right number of resources, data, communication, trust, a team identity, you name it! They are a perfect role model for how teams should model themselves and set themselves up for success. But this post isnt about high performing teams, its about team building. Its about investing in things that are memorable. Things that bring people together. Things that forge relationships. Things that create lessons. If you aren't investing in team building for the teams throughout your organisation, you're missing out on so much untapped potential. Team building is more than a trip down the pub for lunch or a game of bowling at the end of the year. Its about creating moments where we learn. Moments where we experience. Moments of growth.

🏎 🏁 DRIVING SUCCESS - Building a Winning Team Culture 🏎 🏁 Yesterday's Formula 1 race in Hungary was a thrilling display of speed, strategy, and teamwork. But beyond the on-track action, it was McLaren's leadership and team culture that truly stood out. Watching Team Principal Andrea Stella's insightful post-race interview, it's clear why McLaren is on the rise. Stella emphasised their team culture of continuous improvement and open communication - hallmarks of a science-backed approach to leadership. Lando Norris's selfless decision to give his position back to his teammate, despite his clear hunger to win, exemplifies the collaborative spirit that defines McLaren. This act of prioritising the team's success over individual glory speaks volumes about their commitment to unity and mutual support. Just as McLaren analyses data to refine their car's performance, they apply the same rigour to team dynamics. This culture of evidence-based decision-making and adaptability is what separates top performers from the pack, both on the track and in business. Stella's focus on fostering a collaborative environment where every team member feels valued echoes the best practices in modern, high-performing organisations. It's a reminder that success isn't just about technology - it's about people and how they work together. McLaren Racing's resurgence is no accident. It's the result of intentional culture-building and leadership. What can your business learn from their approach? Do your employees make selfless decisions for the good of the team? Ready to build a championship-level team culture? Let's talk! Book a free 30-minute strategy session to discover how science-backed training can transform your team's performance. #HungarianGP #McLaren #Leadership #TeamCulture #F1 #mclarenf1 #landonorris #piastriwin
