Migrevention team is proud 🎉 Congratulations, Triinu Niiberg-Pikksööt, Mark Braschinsky, and other authors of recent PLOS Digital Health #publication 👏 #Migraine is one of the most frequent and expensive neurological disease in the world. Nonpharmacological and digitally administered treatment options have long been used in the treatment of chronic pain and mental illness. Digital solutions increase the patients’ possibilities of receiving evidence-based treatment even when conventional treatment options are limited. Now the research protocol for digitally derived migraine treatment has been published. This is the first publication in series of more to come. For the other behavioral health journal-loving nerds of the world: Here's a cool read about the extent of presenting symptoms in patients discontinuing antidepressant treatment. Given the low usage in alternative treatments modalities in neuromodulation such as TMS, it's for sure interesting to know that as many as 1 in 3 patients reported negative experiences when discontinuing their medication. Anyone know of anything similar studies for NDRIs? Would love to read if so. link to study: https://lnkd.in/gjYj_HDi

As well as investigating the effects of psilocybin therapy for individuals with palliative care needs using a randomised controlled trial, we will also be conducting qualitative research into the individuals' experiences of the therapy as part of work package 3. Members of our project team have previously conducted similar research, which you can access here: https://lnkd.in/eub2FYtX This descriptive article gives a clear overview of the different concerns that individuals may have before engaging with psilocybin therapy, as well as raising valuable questions for future research in this field. #psilocybintherapy #psychedelicresearch #EUfundedresearch

In our latest study published in Cell, the findings have revealed alarming trends in the burden of musculoskeletal (MSK) disorders among adolescents and young adults (AYAs) aged 15 to 39. The findings have significant implications for clinical practice and highlight the need for targeted interventions to prevent and manage early MSK disorders. • Implications for clinical practice: 1. Prioritize prevention and early management of MSK disorders in AYAs by implementing screening programs, providing targeted education on lifestyle modifications, and ensuring timely access to appropriate therapeutic interventions. 2. Address the social determinants of health and promote health equity by advocating for policies and programs that support healthy lifestyles and reduce the burden of early MSK disorders across all socioeconomic strata. 3. Collaborate with policymakers, public health officials, and community stakeholders to create environments that promote musculoskeletal health and prevent the development of early MSK disorders. As physicians, we must recognize the critical importance of focusing on MSK disorders in AYAs to establish lifelong patterns of health and reduce the disease burden in the era of an aging population. By implementing targeted interventions at the respective optimal ages and addressing the contributions of high BMI and kidney dysfunction, we can significantly impact the trajectory of MSK disorders and improve the quality of life for our patients. • The link to our study: https://lnkd.in/dPsSVMfG #MusculoskeletalHealth #MSKDisorders #AdolescentHealth #YoungAdultHealth #PreventiveMedicine #EarlyIntervention #HealthEquity #HealthDisparities #LifestyleModification #BodyMassIndex #KidneyDysfunction #LowBackPain #Osteoarthritis #Gout #NeckPain #SocialDeterminantsOfHealth #CollaborativeCare #PublicHealthPolicy #ClinicalPractice #PatientEducation #HealthPromotion #AgingPopulation #ChronicDiseasePrevention #MusculoskeletalResearch #CellJournal #GBDStudy

Breaking News! 😃 My latest research on the comparative effectiveness of beta-blockers and SSRIs in treating panic disorders is now published. We conducted a cohort study to investigate the effectiveness of combination versus SSRI monotherapy. Key Findings: 1. Despite our extensive analysis, we found no significant difference between the two treatment plans in improving symptom severity. Our study contribute to the knowledge gap of the potential benefits and limitations of each approach, giving clinicians important considerations for patient care. #panicdisorder #mentalhealth #SSRI #betablockers #research #publication #clinicalpractice #healthcare
