The Wines of Alentejo invite you to spend a day immersed in a region that’s as diverse as it is impressive. Join us for a relaxed chat around 6 different wines with me and João Barroso, the Coordinator of Alentejo’s sustainability program. It'll be a laid-back conversation in English⚠ where we'll naturally dive into Alentejo's internationally awarded sustainability project and its impact, all through the lens of 6 unique wines. ‘California: not only green, but also sustainable’ 🌱 weinkenner highlights California as a world leader when it comes to producing wine sustainably and going beyond organic to look at the entire journey from vine to glass. “In California, organic wine is only a milestone,” writes Jens Priewe. “The commitment to nature and the environment extends beyond the vineyard and cellar. The wineries are concerned with targeting the entire production process in order to keep the carbon footprint as small as possible.” More specifically: “Sustainability includes purchasing, materials management, energy supply, supply chains, logistics, construction, and employee motivation. It is always good to see and learn how some of the largest wineries in a region are making a positive impact and moving towards sustainable practices across different aspects of their business. Because of their size, they tend to be a great example for other large facilities to follow. Our offering came from the desire to reuse in B2B and B2C and across Wines and Spirits. So much to absorb, and definitely a must read for those in the Industry and with an interest in Wine. So many possible options to improve on what you are doing and the impact those decisions can have for good!
