Many businesses are leaving SF due to homeless people with mental issues, drug issues, etc. Also reduces SF resident quality life and touristism. Time to get a new mayer which understands that. Having housings which mixes mental people, drug abusers and regular family people who lost their housing, never works. The mental and drug abusers have to be dealt at the state/federal level with facilities far from communities and business centers. They will never live in housing places next to normal people and they will run down the cities and communities with them. The drug abusers have to be clean, to be reintroduced in the major population area with families nearby. Time to rethink, not to throw money at things which does not work for the tax paying population, "The Middle Class"!

In honor of #BlackHistoryMonth, we’re spotlighting The 345, our men’s housing program that occupies the former space of the historic 1950s-era Black-owned Danzig Motel. The building was originally built by O.T. Bell in 1959, and was one of the only operating Black-owned motels in Atlanta. In transforming the dilapidated property into The 345, we wanted to keep our focus on Westside neighborhood residents. The goal is to bolster the availability of affordable solutions for existing residents, the majority of whom are Black, who have long endured a blighted neighborhood with scarce quality housing options. “The 345 is just one example of how we are working to uncover and restore critical pillars of this community by tackling one of its most pervasive issues: lack of affordable housing,” said Bruce Deel, Founder and CEO of City of Refuge. As rents and home prices continue to rise, The 345 is one of our first iterations of our goal to create housing opportunities where displacement poses a threat to legacy residents. Since The 345 opened in May 2023, we’ve housed over 30 residents. By investing in affordable housing, we are better able to help reposition Atlanta’s historic Westside neighborhood as a thriving, vibrant, and inclusive community. #CityofRefuge https://lnkd.in/eC4zDm4H

It's City of Yes week! In honor of the New York City Council holding its public hearings on Mayor Adams' City of Yes housing plan today and tomorrow, we're dropping a special Hot Take episode of The Housing Problem a day early. Check out this Tuesday edition of The Housing Problem tomorrow to hear Rafael and Kirk talk about what's in City of Yes, what kind of impact we can expect, whether Mayor Adams' indictment will derail the plan, and whether there's any merit to the criticisms. #housing #housingcrisis #affordablehousing #yimby #nimby #cityofyes #realestate #politics

Yesterday, I tried my hand at reporting. There's a battle happening in our city right now. In an empty lot next to the Harlow neighbourhood, a development of two 4-story apartment buildings has been approved. This, despite over 180 comments opposing the project on the city's website. The biggest issue seems to be the lack of transparency, information, and respect from the city towards the residents. It's a classic case of "say one thing, and do another." By approving this project, the city is going against everything they say they stand for on their website. When asked questions directly, their responses have been: • "We don't know" • "We can't tell you" • "We've already considered that, and decided it wasn't important" In response, the neighborhood has rallied together to organize a protest today at the development site at 6:00 PM. Among those attending will be local media, property appraisers, law enforcement, and, most importantly, dozens of concerned citizens. If you're curious about the ongoing developments or passionate about fostering a better living environment in our city, I encourage you to join us tonight at 6:00. It’s more than just a protest; it’s a community coming together to voice their concerns and advocate for a more transparent, respectful dialogue with those who represent us. #community #transparency

Do you believe community advocates are enabling housing affordability for the masses? The recent YIMBYtown Conference in Austin has reignited the critical debate on housing affordability in Texas. There's been a growing divide between the Yes In My Backyard movement and traditional NIMBY perspectives, discussing zoning regulations and Texas HB14. We believe this certainly presents an opportunity to reassess current approaches in urban development. Additionally, Judge Glock's shared insights underscoring the urgency of meeting housing demand through streamlined permitting processes. Texas State Representative, Cody Vasut, believed the state needs to rethink single-family zoning. However, groups like Community Powered ATX thought it was critical to highlight the risks of unchecked development. What are your thoughts about the near-future outcomes? 🎙️ Antonio S. #UrbanDevelopment #AffordableHousing #TexasHousing #YIMBY #NIMBY #Multifamily

#MHCLG and #HomesEngland have worked hand in hand since the election to develop the key concepts, outline the risks, the opportunities and the potential routes forward to help advise the Minister and Government on the next generation of #NewTowns. It's amazing how much expertise sits in both organisations which has helped to underpin the journey so far. This isn't any flight of fancy - this is an amazing future and real delivery on a scale we have not seen for a generation. I'm so glad to see this finally launch in #Stevenage, and Sir Michael Lyons and Dame Kate Barker will be brilliant in leading this. Whilst there were many hands helping bring it to this point, Julia Krause and John Whetstone MRICS have played a critical role and been amazing. Biased, I know, given they are on my team! #HomesEngland have played a critical role in the current generation of large scale delivery, from #HarlowandGilston to #MeridianWater and beyond. Now we'll be bringing our unmatched expertise in funding, infrastructure, delivery and placemaking to support this transformational programme. Personally, living in a town that has over 8,000 homes underway that will double it's size, and minutes from Urban&Civic's Tempsford scheme, this is both incredibly exciting and reassuring. It's the real change we have been asking for - from sporadic development often delivered through Appeal decision, to thought out, connected, planned settlements our kids will be proud to live in. I urge everyone to read the press release and forthcoming documents. Critical is the first bullet point about the work plan. It confirms over the next 12 months the Taskforce will be "Meeting with new and existing communities to hear first-hand about the design of desirable developments". That's where the work starts and tells you how much this isn't about numbers but about you, and me, and the people we care about. Let's make this brilliant. #WeAreHomesEngland #NewTowns #delivery #regeneration #development #planning #housing
🏡 We’ve kickstarted plans to create a new generation of towns. Matthew Pennycook visited Stevenage and met with housing expert Sir Michael Lyons who will lead an independent New Towns Taskforce.
