Human Rights Initiative Manager Amelia Shindelar's article in Open Global Rights illuminates the multifaceted risks confronting human rights defenders combating law enforcement violence in the United States. This research examines the psychological, physical, and social challenges faced by activists who have lost loved ones to systemic violence. Understanding the risks faced by these activists is crucial not only for supporting individual defenders, but also for ensuring the sustainability of human rights movements. How to develop a systemic approach to managing human rights? 🤝 In 2023, Paulig conducted a group-wide human rights risk screening as part of the human rights management work. "Through this work, we were able to identify the salient or most significant human rights risks and prioritize them to be able to plan the next steps", says Aurora Aranko, Director, Public & Regulatory Affairs. She emphasizes that the work continues and it must be systematic.
