The City of Los Angeles’ Targeted Local Hire and Bridge To Jobs programs seek to recruit individuals from vulnerable, underserved populations. For the Port of Los Angeles specifically, these populations are largely from the Harbor area. Through these programs, successful completion of on-the-job training and the probationary period leads to civil service employment. In partnership with the Personnel Department, the Harbor Department today held a hiring event to provide an expedited opportunity for the Port to hire within these programs for classifications including Administrative Clerk, Communications Information Representative, Custodian, Field Engineering Aide, Gardener Caretaker, Maintenance Laborer, and Security Officer. During the hiring event, at least 10 candidates were selected for Port positions. To learn more about these programs and future opportunities, visit https://lnkd.in/gYcgvzP9.

Applicants receive on the spot interviews within a more relaxed environment, and our Team has the potential to hire for more than just one position should the opportunity presents itself. A successful hiring event is only one piece of a comprehensive Talent Management strategy. If you're in need of a plumber then it can be easy to think you can’t go wrong going for a national company but that's not always the case. Doing that means you have no say over the individual engineer they send to do the work. By opting for a local company that’s been recommended to you, you can be reassured you’re hiring someone who has been tested and trusted by friends or family. #plumbingandheating #plumber #trades

POV: You are a Garbage Man earning $90,000 annually in NYC. I’m on a mission to build the world’s longest resume and these are the things I learned working for the Department of Sanitation For a Day: 1. This job is all about seniority. When you're in your first years you will typically find yourself on the less desirable routes (meaning your load is longer or heavier). You might also be doing street cleaning, recycling or even the night shift. 2. DSNY is only responsible for residential trash. Any business or restaurant MUST hire a private trash collection company to pick up their trash. 3. DSNY trucks can crush a tiny car 😳 #career #salary #nyc #newyork #environment

Meet Tommy, one of our most experienced plumbers at Sunny Bliss! He is from a long line of plumbers and has been a plumber for over 5 years already. We asked him these two questions: 1. Is there anything that you didn't know about the trade in the beginning of your career that you do now? He commented on how much wicket and more efficient jobs can go once you know what you're doing! 2. What do you like about working at Sunny Bliss? "How great the company treats us and being able to have the opportunities to help customers with their plumbing issues!"

Recently noted that LinkedIn asks me when I log on, are you hiring? It’s a yes or no question. So I answer no. The truth, as an Independent OSHA Outreach Trainer & MSHA Trainer every single one of our clients in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut and New Hampshire is #hiring. That is they are struggling to hire…lack of applicants. If you’re looking for a job that pays you well, #search for #sandandgravel #quarry #readymixconcrete #construction #infrastructure #heavycivil #asphalt or #agriculture and there are #Opportunities for full time or part time workers, #parts #professionals, #drivers, #operators, #welders, #mechanics or #laborers…they’re all looking, every single client we serve is looking for #people. Hourly Wage and Salary ranges I’ve seen are very impressive. On our own #farm, starting wage is $20/ hour. Can’t find help. Most of our clients entry level positions are $29.50 and up depending licenses and certifications. Can’t find help. Washout percentage is high too….so invest 4 to 6 hours in paid safety training for a laborer position, you’ve explained everything in detail, mutually agreed upon terms, #newhire quits in less time then you trained. #Shoveling? So I humbly suggest that if we as a Country are unable to find our own citizen workers to fill the huge skilled labor/trade gaps we face then we seriously need to move Leadership to fast track programs or pathways to work authorization programs or processes with training programs too. We the People need and deserve solutions to problems not the empty rhetoric trying to divide us. Have a #safe day out there #people🙏🏻
