Q: Where to find antelopes in Bandhavgarh ? Ans: Nilgai (Blue cow / bull) is the most common large antelope whose sighting is common in Madhya Pradesh national park. They have good presence in Bandhavgarh. Similarly Indian Gazelle (Chinkara) is also having good presence in Bandhavgarh national park but during jungle safaris, most we don't see them or rarely find the Nilgai but Chinkara often remains away from sight. It is common experience. Reason behind this experience is our tiger centric approach which we book only high tiger density zones. Nilgai sighting is good in Magadhi zone (occasional), Dhamokhar zone (frequently) and Panpatha zone (frequently). For Indian Gazelle (Chinkara) sighting, we have to take a short tour on village outskirts of Guruwahi and Kuchwahi area. It is said that vegetation of this patch is liked by Chinkara thus they are often seen in this areas. #bandhavgarh #antelopes #nilgai #chinkara #safari #magadhi #dhamokhar The Cabs The Holidays Sunil Kumar Dubey Phil Cowie IATO Indian Association of Tour Operators Madhya Pradesh Tourism #indusexcursion

WHAT ARE KAYALS? Narrow water area attached with a main land in the form of channels, known as “Kayals” are found in Kerala. Lagoon lakes of Kerala, also known as backwaters, are described as shallow lagoons or sea inlets running parallel to the coastline. These backwaters are typically separated from larger bodies of water by natural barriers such as sandbars, coral reefs, or barrier reefs. The unique geographical features and beautiful landscapes of Kerala's backwaters make them a notable and picturesque aspect of the region's natural beauty and allure. The tranquil and serene environment of these backwaters also offers opportunities for activities like houseboat cruises and provides a thriving ecosystem that contributes to the biodiversity of the area. Eight Degree Channel separates the islands of Minicoy and Maldives Nine Degree Channel separates the island of Minicoy from the main Lakshadweep archipelago and Ten Degree Channel separates the Andaman Islands and the Nicobar Islands from each other in the Bay of Bengal.

The Transformation of Chardham Yatra: From Pilgrimage to Tourist Hub Uttarakhand, a land adorned with spirituality, natural beauty, and rich cultural heritage is also known for its Chardham Yatra, a pilgrimage circuit that comprises four shrines Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath. Over the years, this journey of faith has transformed into more than just a spiritual quest; it has become a thriving tourist destination. However, with this evolution comes challenges, particularly the issue of managing the surging crowds. While the influx of tourists has undoubtedly brought economic prosperity to the region (confined to few), it has also brought along its own set of challenges like waste management but the most pressing is overcrowding. Over 270,000 devotees have visited Char Dham so far (17th May) which is nearly twice as many pilgrims have arrived in Uttarakhand this year compared to last year https://lnkd.in/gT8nMZnF We prepared a policy brief on Revival of Chardham Yatra in the Post-COVID World. The recommendations given were: Immediate * Establish a mandatory registration system for pilgrims to facilitate easy entry to the Char Dhams. * Develop a comprehensive Char Dham policy to manage all aspects of the Yatra including spirituality, religion, economy, and environment. Involve all stakeholders in the development of the policy for wider acceptance. * Allocate clear roles and responsibilities for key stakeholders such as the UTDB, Shrine Board, hotel and hospitality sector, and other line departments * Commission a study to estimate the carrying capacity at four pilgrimage destinations for regulating the number of permissible pilgrims at one time. Also, commission research to calculate carbon footprint of pilgrims on the Char Dham Yatra routes. Medium term * Establish clear checks and balances (for instance, through fines) by designing and ensuring the implementation of specific building regulations, norms on environmental sustainability, safety and security, and health and hygiene, etc. * Review the financial status and regulation of the Shrine Board to ensure greater transparency. * Promote low-cost renewable energy sources like solar and also e-vehicles along the Char Dham Yatra. Long term * Regulate infrastructure and service development in line with the local tradition and the spirit of the pilgrimage, and the health of the environment and the ecosystem. * Institutionalize a strong long-term information, marketing and publicity strategy for local, national and international pilgrim tourists. * Establish robust data collection and analysis processes related to revenue generation, pilgrim inflow, number of vehicles entering eco-sensitive areas along the Yatra. * Establish a tourist feedback system and grievance mechanism to take inputs from the pilgrims from time-to-time. The administration may use these to plan for the future. #Chardham #policy #uttarakhand #crowdmanagement #disaster

Someone recently asked me, "Where can we find treks that aren't overrun by tourists and offer something truly off the beaten path? Are there any untouched places left?" My take: Stay curious and connect with the right adventure travel experts. The Indian Himalayas offer a diverse range of treks, from the desert-like landscapes of Himachal and Ladakh to the lush green meadows of Kashmir and Uttarakhand, and the waterfall and forest trails in the northeastern states. Amid the adventure boom in India, many companies offer the same "bucket-list" treks. For lesser-explored options, I also suggest talking to the locals to uncover serene campsites and trails beyond the usual itineraries. In Nepal, you'll find some amazing offbeat treks with well-developed infrastructure and reliable heli-rescue systems. My top pick in South Asia is Bhutan, where government efforts to curb mass tourism, prioritize the environment, and preserve uncrowded, scenic trails combine with a rich Buddhist culture. The Druk Path and Snowman Trek offer all this and more! So, if you're looking for treks that go beyond the well-trodden paths, it's all about exploring those lesser-known gems. Whether it's the trails of the Indian Himalayas, the rugged routes in Nepal, or the pristine beauty of Bhutan, there's always a corner of the world waiting to be discovered. Adventure is out there—sometimes, you just have to dig a little deeper to find it.
