If you are a business owner, or working in the corporate world, you may be familiar with data visualization and popular tools like PowerPoint or Excel. You also may have realized that, while these tools are useful, they often don’t offer much freedom for user creativity, control and automated reproducibility. As a developer and designer, Anthony Starks suffered from these same limitations, and here is what he did… https://lnkd.in/gaVkJA_a #visualization #data #civichacker

Understanding visual perception is key to effective data visualization. The way our brains process visual information is complex and not always intuitive. Pre-attentive attributes are visual properties that our brains perceive almost instantly, without conscious effort. Things like color, size, shape, and orientation. We notice these before we even start consciously processing an image. It's like how you can immediately spot a red apple in a bowl of oranges. Your brain picks up on that color and shape difference pre-attentively. Leverage pre-attentive attributes to guide attention to key data points.

#30daychartchallenge | Day 2: Neo. My first association with this prompt was related to art, so I went with it. Hopefully this can help you explore the data with me; from iconic masterpieces to contemporary gems. Data source: Artsy.net Tools used: Adobe Illustrator The 30 Day Chart Challenge is a community-driven initiative where participants commit to creating and sharing one data visualization per day for the month of April, following a set of predetermined themes or prompts. The challenge encourages participants to experiment with different visualization techniques, tools, and data sources, fostering creativity and skill development in the field of data visualization.

Our Prof John Loewen, PhD has a consistently excellent series about using AI for data analysis and visualization. It goes far beyond: blindly enter this prompt and trust the answers. You'll learn: -When you can trust AI and when you can't. -How to prompt AI to make it more reliable. -How AI can clean up your own data and check your answers. -And most importantly how to fuse your own critical thinking skills with AI's strengths. The future with AI is about collaboration!
Graphical elements on a data visualization can serve more than one purpose. Multifunctionality in graphical elements allows for the efficient presentation of complex data within a limited space. When designed with care, they can represent multiple dimensions of data simultaneously. Explained here are two examples of multifunctional graphing elements — the stem-and-leaf plot and the dot plot. ️ ⬇️️ ⬇️ Medium Friend Link (no paywall): https://lnkd.in/dZXRfwea

Embracing Every Viewer: The Power of Colorblind-Friendly Visualizations in R In a world rich with data, ensuring that everyone can understand your visualizations is crucial. Approximately 300 million people have color vision deficiencies, making standard color palettes less effective. By using colorblind-friendly palettes, we make data accessible to all, enhancing comprehension across a diverse audience. Why Go Colorblind-Friendly? Colorblind-friendly palettes prevent common pitfalls like red-green confusion, ensuring that everyone, regardless of color vision, can accurately interpret data patterns. This isn't just inclusivity; it's effective communication. R's Toolkit for Inclusivity for accessible data visualization: - dichromat (https://lnkd.in/dRZT8kdu): Optimizes colors for red-green color blindness. - viridis (https://lnkd.in/dSAC63xb): Provides vibrant, perceptually-uniform palettes that are visually stunning and accessible. Using these tools, we don't just cater to the many; we embrace everyone in the data community. Our visualizations become clearer, more engaging, and truly inclusive. Explore how to make your data speak to everyone. Dive into the colorful world of inclusive R packages and bring your data to life for every viewer. #dataviz #rstats #colorblindfriendly #inclusivedesign #dataforall #ggplot2

"The Daily Routines of Famous Creative People," by RJ Andrews for InfoWeTrust. It was inspired by Mason Currey's book "Daily Rituals: How Artists Work." It's funny that the same data has two complete different creative approaches. I guess experts in Data Visualization have a lot to say about it ... hint, hint, Ignasi Alcalde I choose upper one, Which one do you choose? #Creativity #datavisualization #dailyrituals
