Privileged to co-author this Prop 4 op-ed with Laura Engeman. California has made significant strides and meaningful investments to reduce wildfire impacts. Now is not the time to reduce funding for community risk reduction activities like home hardening and defensible space; fuels mitigation work around at-risk communities; forest health treatments like prescribed fire to create fire adapted landscapes; and new technologies to help us move further faster. The long-term economic impacts of wildfire to small and large businesses, local communities, and state and federal budgets can easily exceed this downpayment if investments in wildfire resiliency are not continued. https://lnkd.in/gpRG7ckJ Anukool Lakhina Matt Weiner Dr. Waleed S, "Lee" Haddad.
