In the United Kingdom, roles for Polish speakers often pay as low as £20k per annum. Meanwhile, similar positions for Dutch, German, or Scandinavian speakers offer basic salaries that are double or even triple that amount. This disparity raises serious questions about inclusion and equality in the workplace. How is it fair that professionals with the same skills, experience, and potential are compensated so differently, based solely on the language they speak? This is not just a matter of economics; it's about fairness and respect for all workers, regardless of their background. We should strive for a workplace where equal skills are met with equal pay, regardless of nationality or language. What are your thoughts on this? I'd love to hear different perspectives. https://lnkd.in/epUg4FS4

A major opportunity will arise later this year or early next year to secure jobs in the EU Commission or EU agencies. There will be a pan-European competition for somewhere in the region of 900 jobs and there is likely to be as many as 300,000 people competing for them. It is very much in Ireland’s interest to ensure that as many as possible of these jobs go to Irish candidates, who will then be able to represent Irish interests at EU level. These are highly desirable jobs, with starting salaries of around €5,000 net a month. And they should interest not just new graduates but also those in mid-career looking for new opportunities. You might end up working for the EU Commission in Brussels. Or you could work for an EU agency. For example, the Intellectual Property Authority is based in Alicante. The range of relevant backgrounds is very broad: anything from law and accounting to veterinary, agriculture, engineering and aviation. There is a requirement of having proficiency in a second language, but Irish is recognised as an EU language, so Irish proficiency would be sufficient. The competition for these jobs is fierce and the Irish Government wants to do everything it can to give Irish candidates a leg up, including with help preparing for interviews and examinations. Check out www.Ireland.ie/eujobs for more on how we can help you to apply and succeed. It’s vital that Ireland retains its strong voice and influence at EU level, and while elected politicians are a part of that, much of what matters happens quietly behind the scenes at the level of the civil service. Ireland has had a huge administrative impact in the past, most notably with two Irish secretaries general of the EU Commission. EU membership has had a hugely positive effect on Ireland. Before joining, Ireland had been an insular, isolated country. Joining, and particularly through membership of the Single Market, Ireland began to look outwards, discovering the huge benefits of opening up not only to trade but to the free movement of people. Irish people moving to work abroad and citizens from elsewhere in Europe coming to work in Ireland have enriched us culturally as well as economically. Now we need a new generation of Irish talent to come through and make its mark for Ireland and Europe by working for the EU and its institutions. 🌍 🚀 Limitless Legal Counsel Expats 🇸🇪 🇵🇱 "Oooo ... I'm an alien I'm a legal alien (...)" I was always into learning languages, travelling, getting to know people from different cultures and their cultures as such 💃 🍣 ! In high school I even joined a class with a tourism profile. Then I went to a Law School 🏫 in my hometown Warsaw, Poland. When making that choice I didn't think that practicing law outside my home jurisdiction might be difficult. I didn't let this limiting thought to bother me later either. My sheer interest in different cultures made me apply for the Erasmus student exchange scholarship. And so I went to Stockholm, Sweden to study law for one year. This year turned to more than a decade, during which I studied LLM in IP law, worked as in-house counsel and head of legal for Swedish IT/SaaS companies with global operations. Sometimes, I fear becoming ignorant of local legal expertise. I search for patterns and similarities between local rules and try to distill common legal solutions to business problems. The guiding 💫 is equity but the 👿 is in details. I'd love to hear from other legal expats! Feel free to comment or DM me. ❓ How did you land practicing law abroad ❓ How do you approach local legal nuances ❓ What are the challenges and advantages of being a legal expat Ps. Now I'm physically back in Warsaw 🥟 but still working internationally. It's good to visit Stockholm as a tourist from time to time 🍤 ☕ . #Limitless #LegalExpats #InHouseCounsel #InHouseLegal

HR Managers attention! Shared today, by: Landeshauptstadt München Kreisverwaltungsreferat - KVR New regulation makes it easier to continue employing foreign skilled workers 📘 The Service Centre for Immigration and Naturalisation (formerly the Munich Foreigners' Registration Office) is taking an important step towards simplification: Residence permits for vocational training in accordance with Section 16a of the Residence Act will now be issued for the duration of the training plus six months. In this way, we are creating a seamless transition phase that makes it easier to start the follow-up employment. From now on: employment after successful completion of training. transitional period for applying for a follow-up title. Florian Hottner, Head of the Legal Department: "With the new regulation, we are ensuring greater predictability for employers and making it easier for trainees to make the transition to employment – a win for everyone involved.
