Do you have any examples where #policy has significantly impacted an industry's shaping or transformation? This question struck me as I watched the launch of our latest project – GeoTV For decades, we have witnessed how different energy policies can lead to varying energy mixes across markets. The impact has not only been present in the past or now, but even longer. In this video, #EDC shared the #Philippine's geothermal journey, which stemmed from an oil crisis pushing them to search for energy independence. This policy shift ultimately led to the nation ranking in the top 5 for installed geothermal energy capacity worldwide. Indeed, policy serves as the bedrock for every industry, providing the nurturing environment necessary for growth. So, how shall we shape today’s geothermal policy landscape to guide us toward a sustainable future? There are many more insights you would find in GeoTV. Watch now: https://hubs.la/Q02vlP9S0 Kudos to the many brilliant minds who made this video: Kristina Hagström-Ilievska, Gabriella Skog, Alexander Richter Baseload Capital ThinkGeoEnergy #GeoTV #GeothermalEnergy #Sustainability #Collaboration #BaseloadCapital #ThinkGeoEnergy #OrmatTechnologies

Geothermal energy offers more than just reliable power—it’s a game-changer for Canada’s energy mix. DEEP is utilizing a binary cycle power generation system that harnesses earth heat from deep saline aquifers. This process allows us to produce electricity while maintaining a small environmental footprint and a steady, baseload power supply 365 days a year. By advancing geothermal technology, DEEP is creating a scalable and sustainable solution that will support Canada’s transition to a diversified, low-carbon energy future. 🌍 https://deepcorp.ca/ #GeothermalTechnology #BaseloadPower #EnergyTransition #GeothermalCanada #SustainableDevelopment

April is National Geothermal Month Energy has become the defining issue of our time and resiliency is a concern we no longer choose to ignore. In 2023 natural disasters cost the US over $2.6 TRILLION, it has reinforced the sense of the need for resiliency & sustainability in our building stock. Geothermal technology does exactly that by using the ENERGY UNDER OUR FEET. #GEONII #GroundSourceHeatPumps #Geothermal #GeoExchange #TheBenefitsOfGoingGreen

Yesterday at the kick-off of this years' CERAWeek, Jennifer Granholm and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) released the Liftoff report on next generation geothermal: the pathways to commercial liftoff. Some of the key takeaways/highlights that I think are worth noting and thinking on ---> 🤓 💥 Next-generation technologies can expand geothermal power by more than a factor of 20 - equating to 90 GW of clean, firm power being added to the grid by 2050 💲 Next-generation geothermal can be cost-competitive with other energy sources by as early as 2030 👷♂️ A workforce of 300,000 that already exists that possess the skills and expertise necessary for the expansion of next-generation geothermal ♻ The demand for clean, firm, baseload power is only going to increase - expected to be around 1000-1400 GW based on different net-zero scenarios Some things that I think are often overlooked when it comes to geothermal are the many other benefits that go far beyond just electricity generation including, but not limited to: ♨ Geothermal district heating networks 🐟 🍇 Agriculture and Aquaculture 🐄 Dairy processing 🔥 Thermal energy storage The market opportunity is great, but lots of work still to be done as every region and electricity market poses different challenges. For instance, a lot of the PPA references here are in CAISO which is a much more attractive market today than say ERCOT where at best you could achieve a $50-60/MWh PPA. Market dynamics, policy, infrastructure and so much more will play a role in this liftoff, not impossible but many moving parts. Let me hear your thoughts! Exciting times indeed. #geothermal #geothermalenergy #governmentinitiatives #cleanenergyfuture #oilandgas #workforce #sustainabledevelopment #netzero #renewableenergy #developpement #financing #investment Report ---> https://lnkd.in/gXHfas2Y

If you ask me whether #geothermal is going to be the main future source of #energy in your country, I would say "look how serious your government is". Any new technologies that hugely change the norms in national scale will not go anywhere unless government support them; specifically because most #investors closely watch and follow the governments! And we are very lucky being in a country where the government's support to #geothermalenergy is extraordinary. U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has a lofty vision for geothermal and is providing significant funding to the industry and academia to take this initiative forward. Today, #DOE published its Pathway to Liftoff report on "Next-generation Geothermal Power" to show this vision and help all players including investors to move forward stronger than before and make the "Heat Beneath our Feet" the number one source of #greenenergy in the US. At Gradient Geothermal, we're pioneering a future where clean, renewable energy is accessible to all, not by reinventing the wheel, but by transforming what already exists beneath our feet. The transition towards sustainable energy is not just a necessity but an opportunity—an opportunity to repurpose, reimagine, and reinvent. The oil and gas industry have a legacy of well-engineered wells and extensive infrastructure that spans the globe. This existing framework offers a head start in tapping into the Earth's geothermal energy, drastically reducing the initial capital expenditure and accelerating the deployment of #geothermal power production. At Gradient Geothermal, we believe in a future where every piece of infrastructure has the potential to contribute to a sustainable planet.

In today’s episode of The Jolt, Kira Taylor looks at geothermal’s role in the #energytransition, plus are the G7’s new climate pledges ambitious enough? The big story today: #Geothermal is a less talked about renewable energy source, but provides solutions across the energy transition. But how does it work? And what is needed to boost project development? Sanjeev Kumar from the EGEC Geothermal and adele manzella, an academic researcher from National Research Council, join The Jolt to explain more about the technology. “Geothermal isn’t one thing. It’s many, many solutions to many different problems. That makes it both interesting, makes it a bit more complicated if you’re a regulator, but at the same time, it means that geothermal has to have a much more prominent a role than it has at the moment,” - Sanjeev Kumar, head of policy at the European Geothermal Energy Council Listen on the app now: https://lnkd.in/dFCVdeWi

7moGood point Claire! Without the right policies, the energy transition will not happen! In the EU for example, the Parliament recently adopted a building directive saying that new buildings have to be zero-emission from 2030. These kinds of policies have a huge impact!
