🌍 Today is a milestone for us all – it’s SDG Day! 🎉 On this day, exactly 9 years ago, the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development was adopted by all 193 UN member states during the General Assembly in New York. This plan outlines 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and 169 targets aimed at creating a better, more sustainable future for everyone. As we celebrate Global Goals Week, let’s remember the strong call from UN Secretary-General António Guterres: achieving the SDGs must remain the top priority for countries and actors around the world. 7.3 billion humans (2015) 193 countries 17 goals 1 planet 🌎 In 2015, world leaders agreed to 17 Global Goals. We’re beyond the halfway mark to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (aka the SDGs) by 2030, and only 15% of them are on track. Now, the current count of the global human population is 8.14 billion souls (https://lnkd.in/gjEr5naM). One can't help but think, "more humans, more problems", right?! The increase in human population significantly contributes to planetary stress through resource depletion, environmental degradation, waste generation, urbanization, and food security challenges. The challenges of a growing population are complex and multifaceted. However, it’s also important to remember that more people can mean ... 🧠 more minds working on solutions, 💡 more innovation, and 🌱 more opportunities for positive change.
