Why do so many organization run their own virtual firewalls in the cloud instead of using the native solution? efficacy and security, sure. but also it’s important to have the same level of operational readiness and observably in the cloud as you do with your on premises firewall devices. now add the migration to sase with firewalls as a service. it’s easy to see that the cloud vendors response is expected. these basic level firewalls are really just packet filters with rudimentary access control lists. thank you to CyberRatings.org for performing this ongoing testing and helping customers understand the limits of the cloud native “one stop shop”.
Perfect example of the CSPs being just like the all inclusive vacation spot called Sandals. They do everything, but sucky. All you can eat places give you wine but it comes in a box.

comments from AWS in the article, "AWS Network Firewall, which allows customers to define firewall rules that provide fine-grained control over network traffic, is working as designed." classic bypasses are a feature then

Some of us didn't have an happy friday but I hope everyone will have an happy weekend. I also feel like every global IT incident, such as these recent outages, should be an opportunity for a distributed grooming and brainstorming session on how IT strategies can be improved. My Key Takeaways today are: 1. Acknowledge System Vulnerabilities 🛠️ Systems are inherently subject to failure; it's not a matter of if but when. Understanding this fundamental truth is key to building more resilient infrastructures. 2. Focus on Solutions, Not Blame 💡 While it is easy to point fingers and assign blame, it is far more productive to focus on finding solutions. Emphasizing collaboration and continuous improvement over fault-finding leads to better outcomes. 3. Shared Responsibility 🤝 Vendors and providers must take responsibility for their products and services, but we all need to be part of the solution. A collaborative approach ensures that all stakeholders are engaged in making the system better. 4. Support for IT Professionals 🧑💻 I stand with every engineer and IT professional who is forced to work late due to such incidents. Their dedication is crucial, and they deserve both recognition and support. 5.Collective Improvement 📈 By turning every incident into a learning opportunity, we can collectively enhance our IT strategies, making our systems more robust and less prone to failure. Happy Week End All !
