𝗦𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗮 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁! BARTEC introduced innovative special membrane packaging in our warehouse in Bad Mergentheim which has resulted in numerous advantages and efficiency gains for the company. The packaging changeover provided a drastic reduction from 15 different packaging systems to just two systems, but also led to a reduction in storage space from 53 to just six pallet spaces! 📦 We also started to use cartons with automatic bottoms and self-adhesive closures that require neither adhesive tape nor dispensers. This not only simplifies the sealing and opening process but also helps to reduce waste and costs. But we didn’t stop there. Our new filling material is now also biodegradable. Delivery note bags made of plastic are being replaced by paper bags which help to decrease the ecological footprint and pave the way for more environmentally friendly processes at BARTEC. ♻️ Markus Noe, BARTEC Shipping Manager, highlighted this project perfectly in our blog: "Our mission goes beyond improving internal processes. Upcycling Coffee sacks into new materials 🌍☕ Together with @IWK Institut für Werkstofftechnik und Kunststoffverarbeitung and inspire AG, we’ve achieved something truly unique as part of an Innobooster-project of @Innosuisse: we developed fiber-reinforced components made entirely from 100% recycled coffee sacks – without any additional plastic additives. Like the cup holder on the picture. Coffee sacks are typically made from a composite of polyethylene (PE) and aluminum, which makes them notoriously difficult to recycle. However, through an innovative manufacturing process, we’ve found a way to give this material a second life while conserving valuable resources. With this project, we aim to demonstrate how new production methods can make a small but meaningful contribution to the circular economy. Parkside launches a range of recyclable paper-based flexible packaging materials With the introduction of a line of recyclable paper-based flexible packaging materials, Parkside is stepping up its efforts to assist in the global packaging conundrum. The different standards, along with a few other improvements to complement Parkside's freezerproof paper substance, will be introduced gradually starting in April. Steve Hallford, Product Development Technologist at Parkside accentuated how Recoflex designs all of its configurations to be completely recyclable in curbside collection programs in order to comply with shop policies and customer preferences. Schmersal is planning to use recycled material in the production of safety switches with plastic housings in future. ‘Our aim is to use 20 per cent recycled material in the switches manufactured using the injection moulding process,’ says Matthias Banaszek, Head of Value Management / Innovation Manager at Schmersal. The first independent analyses now show that Schmersal is well on the way to achieving this goal. To ensure that the recycled material used has no influence on the quality of the safety functions, Schmersal commissioned comparative tests at the Kunststoff-Institut Lüdenscheid (Lüdenscheid Plastics Institute). The results are now available: Regranulates made from Ultramid and Hostaform could be used immediately, while further product-related tests are required for Frianyl. The project is part of Schmersal's sustainability strategy with the aim of reducing its CO2 footprint. Today, the question often arises as, to how I can swap or replace certain materials (e.g. wood or plastic) with other paper or cardboard-based materials for my packaging. For example honeycomb board, what exactly are that? (Paper) honeycomb board are an environmentally friendly and ecologically sustainable packaging and transport solution for a wide range of industries. The honeycomb board are made of paper that has a hexagonal, load-bearing cell structure. The outer layers vary depending on the area of application, from very thin to very strong. Honeycomb boards are becoming increasingly popular - understandably so, as they can be used in many different ways and are utilised in a variety of industries.
