Waste pollution is a systemic transformation issue, and that requires changing the way we consume. And that is a slower progress that's happening in the waste management space, as highlighted by Swati Mandloi. During our latest 'Conversations of Change' episode, Swati Mandloi from WWF-UK in conversation with Purnima Tandon, emphasized the critical role of waste management in our increasingly populated and resource-intensive world. Catch a glimpse of our conversation where we delve into: ♻️Shift from linear economy: Moving away from the traditional model of production and consumption due to the challenges posed by a global population exceeding 8 billion and resource consumption. ♻️Two-fold focus: Addressing both the reuse of waste products and minimizing waste pollution. ♻️Need for systemic change: Emphasizing the necessity to redesign products and systems to prevent waste generation. ♻️ Addressing challenges: Recognizing the slow but significant progress towards changing consumption patterns and achieving sustainable waste management. Stay tuned for the full episode next week! 🌱 #WasteManagement #CircularEconomy #Sustainability #ClimateAction

Today is International Zero Waste Day, and it's an opportunity to tackle one of the most pressing challenges of our time. This day highlights the need to improve global waste management while promoting sustainable consumption and production patterns. Did you know that humanity generates between 2.1 billion and 2.3 billion tonnes of municipal solid waste every year? Unfortunately, 2.7 billion people lack access to waste collection, and 2 billion of them reside in rural areas. This waste pollution poses a significant threat to human well-being and economic prosperity while exacerbating the triple planetary crisis of climate change, loss of nature and biodiversity, and pollution. Annual municipal solid waste generation is projected to skyrocket to 3.8 billion tonnes by 2050 without immediate action. However, there's still hope! Zero-waste initiatives are crucial in fostering sound waste management practices and minimizing waste generation. To #BeatWastePollution, we must enhance waste management systems, improve resource recovery, and drastically reduce waste generation. Prevention, reduction, reuse, repurposing, and recycling are vital steps toward achieving this goal. What can you do today to make a difference? #ZeroWaste #Sustainability #BeatWastePollution 🌍💚 Source: https://lnkd.in/gpbZGzs8

🌍 Today is International Zero Waste Day. A dedicated day to raising awareness about the importance of reducing waste and adopting sustainable practices worldwide. This significant day remains fixed on the calendar annually, serving as a reminder of the collective effort needed to combat environmental challenges. International Zero Waste Day underscores the need to rethink consumption patterns, minimise waste generation, and maximise resource efficiency. It celebrates the progress made in waste reduction initiatives while inspiring individuals, communities, and businesses to embrace a zero-waste lifestyle. Here at Safety Matters, we print on both sides of our paper and the shredded paper we generate, we use as bedding for staff's pets at home. We are installing Upv solar panels they should be up in the next few weeks and we are very proud of that. What can you do today for a better future?
