It is critical to bring awareness to the issue of food waste and how increasing food donation efforts can be key to hit emissions reduction goals. Yet, only 21 countries have included FLW in their nationally determined contribution (NDC) plans, much less food donation. In this webinar, we convened stakeholders across the globe in a discussion about the importance of national strategies to reduce FLW and increase food donation, in partnership with The Global FoodBanking Network. Did you know that 33% of all food produced globally is lost or wasted every year, and that 8% of all greenhouse gas emissions each year are due to food loss and waste? 👎 To combat food waste, we've joined WRAP's Courtauld Commitment 2030 initiative to reduce waste and emissions by one-fifth. We're working closely with WRAP to cut waste throughout our supply chain and in the home. At Quorn, we started to collect food waste data in 2019. By the end of 2023, we achieved a 32% reduction of food waste and all our food waste is now sent to anaerobic digestion to make renewable energy! We have also worked with likeminded partners such as FoodCycle, FareShare UK, and The Bread and Butter Thing to combat food waste and support communities. #sustainability #foodwaste
