About us

Our vision is a world transformed, in which Circular Living is commonplace. Where the systems that provide our everyday goods contribute to the world's prosperity and sustainability instead of reducing it. We are a global environmental action NGO transforming our broken product and food systems. Our mission is to embed Circular Living — for the benefit of climate, nature and people. For over 20 years we’ve delivered programs that reduce CO2 and waste, restore nature and change people’s behaviour. We catalyse action from policy makers, businesses, NGOs — and in a world of mounting challenges, make Circular Living a beacon of change.  Our mission is to embed Circular Living in every boardroom and every home. https://www.wrap.ngo/about-us/our-plan Community guidelines: http://www.wrap.ngo/content/community-guidelines

We're at INC5 in Busan, Republic of Korea - the final scheduled round of negotiations for a #GlobalPlasticsTreaty. This critical session is a pivotal step toward transforming the plastics system and paving the way for global impact. Governments have the opportunity to create lasting change by committing to a system where plastic never becomes waste or pollution. Key issues still hang in the balance: how to manage toxic chemicals in plastics, who will fund the transition, and whether the treaty will include strict limits on plastic production. The current plastics system is broken. We need to do better and #CircularLiving is our model for doing that. The Global Plastics Treaty is our chance to address a global crisis with a united, ambitious solution - one that benefits people, businesses, and the planet. Let’s ensure #INC5 delivers the ambition needed to end #PlasticPollution for good. https://bit.ly/4eTIya4

Aldi is trialling selling a range of loose fruit and vegetables across select stores, in the North of England, to help reduce #PlasticPackaging. 12 items are being sold loose for the first time including festive favourites like parsnips and carrots, according to The Sun: https://bit.ly/3AWjp0n “It’s fantastic to see Aldi UK selling more loose produce. WRAP’s ambition is for 50% of uncut fruit and veg to be sold loose by the end of 2030 and we have recently called on the government to accelerate the removal of packaging on key items. A household of four throws away on average £1,000 of food each year, costing the planet’s precious resources, and people’s pockets. By selling more items loose, people will be able to buy only what they need, save money and cut the use of single use packaging - a real win-win-win!” Catherine David, Director Behaviour Change and Business Programmes, WRAP. #FoodWaste #BuyLoose #ChooseWhatYoullUse #LoveFoodHateWaste

We live in a world of broken systems. The food, textiles and manufactured products we use every day come from unsustainable systems - 45% of GHGs can only be tackled by changing the way we make and consume products and food. We need to do better and #CircularLiving is our model for doing that. After 20 years of delivering programs that reduce CO2 and waste, restore nature and change people’s behaviour, we've launched a refreshed brand for WRAP – one as distinctive and memorable as the concept of Circular Living and as our organisation itself, reflecting the scope of our work and our global reach. #FoodWaste #PlasticPollution #TextileWaste #CircularEconomy

Food matters: make it count campaign During the next couple of weeks we’ll share some of the resources and case studies from our website that are available for you to download and use throughout your food waste prevention journey. 75% of the food wasted across our sector could have been eaten costing us £3.2 billion. There is no better time to start taking action to reduce your food waste or to kick-start efforts that have lost momentum. Remember that the benefits of taking action include cutting your costs as well as ensuring that we treat our planet in a kinder way by making the most of the precious resources used to grow, produce and transport our food. So let’s save food, money and our planet too. Doing something different doesn’t have to be time consuming. Our Guardians of Grub website has everything you need to embed the simple principles of Target-Measure-Act. Using our resources will reduce the time needed to start your journey as they are ready to download and use today. More than 30 countries have endorsed the #COP29 Reducing Methane from Organic Waste Declaration. These countries represent almost 50% of the global methane emissions from organic waste, including #FoodWaste. The Guardian Cutting emissions of potent but short-lived greenhouse gas methane is 'emergency brake': https://bit.ly/4eHKFO7 But more than 25% of the total food produced is lost or wasted. This declaration is a promising first step, but our work continues to halve food waste, reduce water stress and drive down GHG emissions, by fixing our broken food system. #CircularFoodSystems feed more people with less land. Only through #StrategicPartnerships and #CollaborativeAction across the entire food chain can we achieve #CircularLiving.

During COP29 Azerbaijan our priority was to make a case for nations around the world to incorporate food loss and waste targets in their nationally determined contributions (NDCs). We teamed up with The Global FoodBanking Network, FareShare UK and ReFED to deliver sessions in the Action on Food Hub, sharing best practice and learnings from national policies and action on food loss and waste from across the globe, discussing strategies to tackle methane and ways to build momentum. Yesterday, over 30 countries endorsed a declaration on reducing methane from organic waste, including the disposal of #FoodWaste with the Reducing Methane from Organic Waste Declaration. "It’s promising to see that nearly 50% of global methane emissions from organic waste are already accounted for by countries that have pledged their support. This progress highlights the growing recognition that addressing food loss and waste, and organic materials are essential to effective climate change mitigation efforts." Dr Richard Swannell FRSA, Director of Impact Growth, WRAP. Our work continues, as we need to convince all countries to commit to this declaration and update their NDCs accordingly, driving #CircularLiving and making landfill nothing more than a memory.  Download our Global Action Drive For Food Loss and Waste Reduction report: https://bit.ly/4eK7IaS #COP29

At COP29, we’ve been championing the integration of action on food loss and waste into Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) as a key step in tackling climate change. A significant milestone was reached today with the launch of the Reducing Methane from Organic Waste Declaration by the COP29 Presidency and the Climate and Clean Air Coalition. This important declaration commits signatories to addressing methane emissions from organic waste - including food loss and waste - within their NDCs. https://lnkd.in/eg6-EKhW It’s promising to see that nearly 50% of global methane emissions from organic waste are already accounted for by countries that have pledged their support.  This progress highlights the growing recognition that addressing food loss and waste, and organic materials are essential to effective climate change mitigation efforts. We need more countries to commit to this declaration, update their NDCs accordingly, and critically act to reduce methane emissions from the disposal of food loss and waste.   Putting food waste into landfill should become a thing of the past as we reduce food waste and ensure that what does arise is put to good use, such as into animal feed or composting.  This will be circular living in action. https://lnkd.in/eSXZgnPs
