Happy Independence Day from the Broken Arrow Police Department! 🎆🎇 As we celebrate the birth of our nation, let's ensure a safe and enjoyable Fourth of July for all. Remember, fireworks can be fun but also pose risks. Please follow these safety tips: - Use fireworks in designated areas only. - Always have a responsible adult supervise. - Keep a bucket of water or hose nearby. - Dispose of fireworks properly after use. And remember, this week our officers are enforcing a ZERO tolerance approach with anyone discharging fireworks that do not comply with the city ordinance in place. While the permit provision is no longer in effect, it's important to note that there are still regulations in place for fireworks use. • Fireworks are legal on July 4, from 3 p.m. until 11 p.m. • The person discharging the fireworks is responsible for cleaning up debris on the same day the fireworks are used. • It is not permissible to discharge fireworks on city property. • Anyone discharging fireworks outside those times will be subject to a $225 fine, plus costs. • Fines double for those discharging fireworks between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. • Commercial-grade fireworks and public displays still require a permit Your safety is our priority, so let's celebrate responsibly and make this Independence Day memorable for all the right reasons! 🇺🇸 #BrokenArrowPolice #IndependenceDay #FireworksSafety #CommunitySafety #CelebrateResponsibly #CommunityOutreach #CrimePrevention

In Texas, it is generally illegal to discharge fireworks within city limits. Most cities in Texas have ordinances prohibiting the use of fireworks within their boundaries, and violators can face fines or other penalties. However, regulations on fireworks may vary by city, so it is essential to check local ordinances before using fireworks. It is worth noting that fireworks are allowed in unincorporated areas of the county, subject to specific regulations, and it is always important to follow safety guidelines when using fireworks. Did you know many laws have been created specific to the Christmas holiday? In the United Kingdom, the 1831 Game Act still stands, prohibiting anyone to “…kill or take any game, or use any dog, gun, net or other engine or instrument for the purpose of killing or taking any game, on a Sunday or Christmas Day.” The U.S. Supreme Court case Lynch v. Donnelly ruled that any religious holiday display on government property needed to also include secular elements. The case is often referred to as “Three Reindeer Rule,” because if you include three wise men, you might need to include three reindeer as well. This is the greatest thing I've seen all week: A patriotic American reportedly put a Trump Flag on his dock and the HOA told him to remove it. So a day later... he wrapped his entire boat boat and blasted THIS song. The reaction was PRICELESS - REPOST this EVERYWHERE!! #thinblueline #lawenforcement
