💭 We love hearing back experiences from Academy's training participants! Jeroen Deckmyn followed the course Intercultural Communication at Clingendael Academy and shared his thoughts: "I learned a lot from the training, which once again highlights how excellent Clingendael is at what it does. Beforehand, I wondered how they would handle such a diverse group, with everyone encountering different cultures and pitfalls each time. But they did a great job, linking theory to various case studies and personal experiences throughout the sessions. We were taught by two trainers who complemented each other well and adeptly responded to our questions and comments. If I encounter an unfamiliar culture tomorrow, I now feel better equipped to engage in meaningful conversations." 🎓 The next edition of Intercultural Communication will be held 11-13 June, 2025. 🖊️ Register here: https://lnkd.in/ddPm67R

diversophy® supports my intercultural communication teaching practice. This semester, I've used the game towards the end of the term, where students hopefully feel both comfortable communicating with each other and confident answering the intercultural communication questions and scenarios. If you’re just getting to know diversophy®, in the Intercultural Communication version of the game, the DiversiSMART questions challenge our factual knowledge of culture(s). During one game this term, a student asked: “How do I learn these answers (to the DiversiSMART questions)?” A fair question. My answer was something like this: Learn in ways that stimulate your curiosity so you keep the learning going. Read and watch through a critical intercultural lens, observing patterns of communication, ethical positions of interlocutors, and how difference provides opportunity for all-important self-reflection. And don't be afraid to ask 'why' in a genuine, want-to-know, way. A pretty vanilla teacher answer, I must admit. How might you answer to help this student ace the DiversiSMART cards? #Diversophy
