This post is edited, as it auto-posted earlier than I could get to it. I was actually out training at 7 instead of 6. 🤦♂️ You see, it's not about a 🔫 culture. No, it is about so much more. Let me touch on this topic of "training." As you rub shoulders with other people, in anything you do, you learn more of what you need to know and even how to practice/implement what you learned and know. See, training is learning, and learning is knowledge. Ride that along with life experience, and you can start to say, I have a good sense of what I'm capable of. Keep pushing and training harder; one day you won't have that awesome option. Since about 1979, I've been working on building a mindset of #thinktwice, and let me tell you, #thinktwice is critical. Why? I've always delved into adrenaline sports—fast, faster, steep, steeper—and anything that would jolt my fight-flight system. The adrenaline dump, combined with a dopamine dump, is the perfect recipe. The above is a dangerous recipe. Why? Ignorance. Ignorance is dangerous. I quickly learned that ignorance can get you 💀. Not knowing your abilities can get you in serious 💩, even💀. Ignorance can show in a post, a comment, or even worse, your decision-making actions. Lifting weights, running, buying a 🔫, or even less-than-lethal, you best ask a lot of questions. The 1v1 duel is the key to player development and should be a regular part of a players training schedule particularly in Academy Football. My Competition Journey... Me 'n Bert did a thinggggg at the weekend and took another step forward in our Competitive Obedience Journey...winning our first Test B. We were 3.5 marks clear of the rest of the field.. I'm beyond proud of this young boy. Judges Report: 1st Angela Watson with Hanans Golden Liberty@ Wygulmut (Berty). Golden Retriever. HW 4 ¼, Sendaway ½, Retrieve ½, Scent C, Total 5 ¼. "Beautiful Berty displayed breathtaking heelwork, no mean feat for mum Angela to achieve as he is such a crazy kid at still only 3 years old. He then had us holding our breath when it came to scent, since the last time we judged this team they led throughout the day only for Bouncing Berty to play the fool in the cloth department. This was the first B win for team A/B - there is no doubt that before the year is over they will be A/B in C. Fantastic job and so pleased for you!" The journey so far... 2020 Berty was born 2022 Started competing in April. Won 2 x Novice and 1 x Test A 2023 Won 3 x Test A and qualified for BCOS Grand Prix Final. Did Obedience Display at Crufts 2023. 2024 Won x 1 Test B... Next steps of the journey... 1 more B win 1 x 1st, 1 x 2nd, 1 x 3rd in Test C This will put us in the top Championship C class where we can then compete for a place at Crufts. If you've ever thought about dipping your toe into the world of competitive Obedience, jump in the water is lovely.
