Here’s a behind-the-scenes peek at what’s going on at Forthright in October: 🇺🇸 election prep 🇺🇸. We’re working with our clients to prepare for the outcome. ➡ I’m currently coaching two things on repeat: 1️⃣ Prioritize your internal team. No matter what happens, ensure your staff is hearing from top leadership within your organization, quickly. Build unity and help your team manage by being transparent and accessible. Offer your staff a chance to process their feelings within the organization as well — ask them what they need and empower them to share their emotions with the team. 2️⃣ Determine your unique contribution. Ask yourself: - What will people look to us specifically for and why? - What do we bring to the election that is distinctive, and what will people get out of our response that they can’t get anywhere else? - What do we want external audiences to feel or do when they receive communications from us about the election? (e.g., position the organization as an ally, a resource, an advocate, etc.) - Who do they expect to hear from (e.g. Executive Director, Board Chair) at our organization? If you’re just now getting around to election prep, no worries (you’re not alone, trust me). We’ve got your back. We’ve got a PDF checklist you can simply download and print out to help you plan. Nonprofit leaders have told us that we’ve made planning easy with this tool. Our partners have worked through it together in a prep meeting, using each of the six steps to guide discussions and decisions. I'm including it here in case you'd like to do the same. https://lnkd.in/gs5ESKft

Invitation: The last little while has been intriguing. What is on my plate. 1. Acquire the tools and program to record my book in audio. 2. Learn to use said tools and programs. 3. Get well. I had donated blood 2 days after getting some vaccinations and it flattened me for nearly a month. I would not recommend anyone doing that. Please do donate but be well when you do. 4. The day after I got everything set up to begin learning how to do the audio recording they broke ground on a new home next door. It’s amazing how noisy that can be! 5. Keep up with Social Media marketing. Do you ever feel like everything comes at you all at once? I guess I'm not alone then. 6. In the midst of this I get an invitation to The AAE Global Livestream Book Launch: Author Academy Elite 10-Year Celebration which will air on March 14th at noon ET Though wonderful, I needed to prepare a 1-minute video segment about my book to air that day. Which means I get to write, (which was a wonderful excuse to get something written,) record video and audio (using new tech I haven’t used before,) and send them the segment. Got it written. Got it recorded. Got the video and the audio put into one segment. Got it sent in. I’m sure it will look exactly like a first try, but… I DID IT! High five for me!! I’m inviting you all to support a fellow author and take part. Give me a shout-out. There will be many new books presented maybe you’ll find your next best read. Where to Watch the Livestream: You can watch (and share) the March 14th Livestream at noon ET on the Kary Oberbrunner/Igniting Souls social media channels: *Facebook: Kary Oberbrunner Author FB page https://lnkd.in/gWTUzFJg * YouTube: Kary Oberbrunner YouTube: https://lnkd.in/gnMjXsKV *Linkedin: Igniting Souls Linkedin: https://lnkd.in/gKXpKn7t #celebratesuccess #authorlife #authorsoflinkedin #authorscommunity #readingcommunity #readmore #readmorebooks

Great to see that the article I co-authored on systems change has made the list of most-read articles in 2024 on The Policymaker. In our article, we discussed the carousel of reviews that does little to transform the social service system, emphasised the need to focus on the relational elements of systems change, and presented pieces of the puzzle that can get us from the system we have to the system we need. Whilst written in the context of public policy, the frameworks in this article are also applicable to those working on organisational and sectoral change across academia and industry. I was also particularly pleased to see this shared message across the other most-read articles: Systems are made of people. If we want to change systems, we need to put people first. By putting people first, policymakers should focus on creating enabling conditions for people to connect and thrive, rather than isolating and "fixing" them. As much as I appreciate what we've written, my favourite quote comes from the most-read article: "Paperwork doesn't change people's lives. People do."
Our top 5 most-read articles in 2024 on The Policymaker - congratulations to our authors! Jarrod Linkston Wheatley, Ehsan Noroozinejad, Thea Snow, Clifford Eberly, Wenqian Gan, Jessica Cocks, Rob Ryan, Ben Spence Another big year for The Policymaker - more articles and authors than ever before. We'll be back in 2025 - send us your ideas! https://lnkd.in/gBiZwATu
