Truth and Reconciliation has to start with uncovering and internalizing the truth of the historical and ongoing experience of Indigenous Peoples here in Turtle Island. That means not only educating ourselves about the historical/ongoing injustices inflicted by colonial systems and racism, but also learning about and celebrating the ways Indigenous people are innovating, recovering culture and history, and making valuable contributions to our shared social fabric. Today, on National Indigenous People's Day, I encourage you to uncover and assimilate some truth so we can move together toward reconciliation. #NationalIndigenousPeoplesDay

Throughout the month of May, BC local governments will be honouring Asian Heritage Month. This provides an opportunity to recognize and explore the accomplishments, artistry, traditions, and culture of those who helped build the province that would become British Columbia, and all members of Asian-Canadian communities who have called BC home. The theme for this year is Preserving the Past, Embracing the Future: Amplifying Asian Canadian Legacy. This theme celebrates the rich heritage and contributions of people of Asian origin in Canada while also looking forward to the future with optimism and hopefulness. https://ow.ly/oEOk50RpqLJ
