Today is Day of the Homeschooled Child, and it's time to talk about what's wrong with homeschooling. Why? Many of the ~2 million children homeschooled in the U.S. have positive experiences. But that’s not the case for everyone. Too many children grow up in families that exploit lax homeschool laws to isolate, neglect, and abuse them. This isn’t the part of homeschooling that most people want to talk about. But we do. Why? Because talking about this problem is the first step to ending it. Swipe through to learn more about this issue. And help us shine a light on abused homeschooled children: https://lnkd.in/efsJFdr3

🚫 🎒 School Can't 🎒 🚫 A growing number of children can't attend school. The latest episode of Four Corners shines a light on this issue. 🧒 Children are struggling. 👨👦👦 Families are struggling. 👨🏫 Teachers are struggling. 🏫 Schools are struggling. There is no easy solution to this complex problem. The issue becomes even more complex in the context of family separation. Parents in conflict may find it hard to reach agreement on how best to support their children who are struggling. These children and their families need support. Where disputes arise in separated families, they need mediators who understand the issues they are dealing with. We know that children do well when they can. These children will not thrive while their parents and caregivers are litigating in an adversarial court system.

Parents need to encourage open communication with children to protect them from online abuse and exploitation. When children feel comfortable sharing their experiences, parents can identify potential risks early and provide guidance or intervention. Our Tips for Parents: 1. Create a Safe Space: Make sure your child knows they can talk to you without fear of punishment or judgment. 2. Be Approachable: Show interest in your child’s online activities and ask about their experiences without being intrusive. 3. Listen Actively: Pay attention to their concerns, and validate their feelings when they share something. 4. Educate Children: Teach your child about online dangers in an age-appropriate way, so they recognize risks. 5. Reassure Children: Let them know you are there to help and that it’s okay to come to you if something goes wrong online. ChildSafeNet #parenting #childonlinesafety #opencommunication #childsafenet

Most commonly, children are taken into care because they are experiencing or are at risk of abuse or neglect. The total of children looked after stood at 83,840 at the end of March in 2023, 1 in every 140 ❗️ What is essential is that all children who become looked after get the love and care they need, as a child and as they grow into adults. At Inspire, we are advocates that all children in care should be supported to achieve things in the same way as any other children, a loving, stable home, a brilliant education, and grown-ups who love them into adulthood 🙌 To read the full article, click here 👉 https://brnw.ch/21wHTJl
