🌱 Learn, how we use sustainable materials for not just automotive designs, but production process - and how, by doing so, we reduce the negative impact on our environment. 👩🔬 Leather is a material that is frequently used. Find out how we have found a way to eliminate conventional methods in the production process and use coffee and olives instead. ☕ From bean to machine: Škoda Auto’s Czech plants switch to 100% Curiosity Fuel. Upon arrival in the Czech Republic, the coffee beans are processed at the Jablum family roastery in Bezděčín, Mladá Boleslav. The distribution of the coffee to the canteens, company cafés and coffee machines at the Czech plants has already begun. Starting this summer, Škoda Auto’s total annual coffee consumption at these locations – approximately 25 tonnes – will be covered by sustainable, high-quality Curiosity Fuel. Closing the loop: the story of Curiosity Fuel goes beyond coffee 💚In line with circular economy principles, Škoda Auto is also using the coffee bean husks. In collaboration with its supply partner Bader, the carmaker has developed a process in which this byproduct is used for tanning the leather seat covers of the Škoda Kodiaq and Octavia models in the Suite Design Selection from summer onwards. #innovation #sustainable #materials #mobility #curiosityfuel

New Partnership is the New Leadership! I am thrilled to share another great example of how new horizontal collaborations can support us in deploying intermodal rail solutions that contribute to building sustainable transport systems. This success in collaborative approaches among transport buyers started with INDITEX, as previously shared. This confirms that we have opportunities to further explore and leverage such transformative business approaches. Now, we have deployed a new rail solution on the Poland-Austria corridor. This has been achieved together with another shipper and WENZEL Logistics. We have started with two train departures and are already looking to add a third one! This effort enables us to shift an additional 4,000 loads from road to rail, saving 2,300 tons of CO2 yearly. I also want to highlight the crucial role of the human factor in making this happen. This success is about PEOPLE and their willingness to do things differently with high engagement. Special thanks to Joanna Waliszewska, Stephan Platzer, MBA and WENZEL Logistics team. JLR is undergoing a hugely exciting transformation. Reimagining our company means rethinking everything we do, including how we engage with and support our supply chain.    At our Global Supplier Summit this week, I discussed how #circulareconomy and #resourceefficiency underpin our modern luxury values. Through the principles of use less, use longer and use again, we must consider how to reduce material and energy use, keep materials in use for as long as possible, and cycle and recycle material at their highest value.     Our suppliers are critical to ensuring these principles are successfully engrained within JLR. The relationships we have built and nurtured with our #supplychain will be paramount as we aim to generate new benchmarks in environmental, societal and community impact for a luxury business.     Through this, we are enhancing our Global Sourcing Process to enable supplier evaluation on ESG criteria. By empowering buyers to collect supplier-specific ESG data, we can identify and select suppliers that can demonstrate they meet the highest standards relating to environmental performance, labour practices, and social responsibility.    I’m looking forward to working with our deeply knowledgeable supply chain, leveraging their expertise as we develop our next generation luxury vehicles.    #JLR #sustainability #ESG

FRANCE, DECEMBER 2024: ELECTRIFYING OUR MARSEILLE ROAD CLUSTER   It feels great to share that, together with GROUPE PORTMANN we are turning our flows in Southern France into “zero emission” solution! 3 Scania trucks – the first ones in France to be deployed in IKEA network, and one of the Scania’s first ones in France - will be deployed in December on the flows from our distribution center (DC) in Fos sur Mer to the stores in Vitrolles, Marseille and Avignon, and from the port to the DC, covering around 1500 shipments yearly, saving approx. 150 tons of CO2. This is the first step and more will come at a later stage. Electrification of the road heavy-duty transportation is one of the corner stones in building future waste-free transportation. Without a fantastic collaboration it would not be possible to make this set-up sustainable in all respects: optimized operating framework ensuring highest possible vehicle’s productivity, charging infrastructure, operational planning, etc. are the keys to success. The Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) used by DHL for the Prada Group is certified by the International Sustainability & Carbon Certification (ISCC).
