"Dear HR, Does My Location Really Matter More Than My Skills?" I Recently sent my resume to a company and this is how they rejected my Resume. HR: "Are you from Ahmedabad?" Me: "No, but I'm willing to relocate!" HR: "We prefer candidates only from Ahmedabad." Me: "But... I just said I'm willing to relocate." HR: "Sorry, we're only considering local candidates." "Wait, what? So even though I have 1 year of relevant experience and I'm ready to move, you're still rejecting my resume? Just because I'm not currently in Ahmedabad?" Seriously, what’s the logic here? I’m open to relocating and bringing my experience to the table. Isn’t that what matters? This position requires working closely with department heads to ensure HR processes are aligned with organizational goals and executed efficiently. The role also involves handling sensitive employee relations, ensuring compliance with labor laws, and supporting continuous HR operations improvement. Key Responsibilities: 1. Analyze and Understand Hiring Needs: Collaborate with department heads to understand and assess hiring needs. Translate job requirements into effective recruitment strategies. 2.Conduct Initial Interviews: Screen resumes and applications to create a shortlist of candidates. Conduct preliminary phone interviews and evaluate candidates’ qualifications, experience, and fit for the role. 3.Follow-Up with Prospective Employees: Maintain regular communication with candidates throughout the hiring process. Address any pre-employment concerns or questions. 4.Onboarding and Documentation: Oversee the collection and verification of all new hire documents. HR - what is your notice period? Candidate 30 days HR- Is it negotiable? Candidate - No HR - Sorry we are looking someone who can join within 15 days. Candidate okay, may I ask a question? HR - Sure!! Candidate - Could you please tell me notice period of your company. HR - 60 days Candidate - So, if someone resign in your company and they ask to leave within 15 days, will you allow?? HR-Not at all, Candidate - Why? HR - We would be required time for searching new employee and the old employee must hand over all the training and document to new employee. Candidate - So why do you ask to candidate to join early if you cannot allow to existing employee to leave early. This conversation highlights a key issue in hiring practices. Consistency and fairness should be prioritized, both for current employees and new hires. It's time to rethink and align our policies to create a more balanced and transparent work environment.
