Over the past few weeks, some of our Coles Liquor graduates shone brightly as part of the 2024 Graduate Innovation Project! 🎉 After months of research, refinement, and collaboration, Mimi Stanbury, Peter Crowther, Gabrielle Cumbers, and Jasmine Csetoth presented their innovative solutions to the Coles Group Executive Leadership Team and the Coles Board. 👏 Jasmine Csetoth, 2023 Graduate said, "Presenting our idea to the ELT and Coles Board was an incredible opportunity. It was both nerve-wracking and rewarding to showcase something we worked so hard on and to receive valuable feedback from such influential leaders.“ Congratulations to the Liquor team and all the graduates who contributed to this year’s projects! Your efforts not only inspire but also pave the way for the future of innovation at Coles Liquor. 🍾 #TeamColesLiquor #LifeatColesLiquor #InnovationProject Jasmine Csetoth | Gabrielle Cumbers | Peter Crowther | Mimi Stanbury

Lower profit in September isnt the management team’s fault. And losing momentum coming out of summer is a regular occurrence for the restaurant industry. “Q3 was great, but we can’t lost it all before the end of the year!” Is such a common thing to hear. But the bigger problem is often more to do with planning than operations. And a lack of information around what’s happening. Because September is such a unique month in the restaurant world. And it can be such a grind, just to be profitable. Sounds like an opportunity more than anything else. Who’s with me❓ 👊🏻 #restaurantmanagement #hospitalityindustry #leadership

Sometimes it feels overwhelming because of the amount of information I want to proceed, reflect on and retain, but I'm not going to give up! These are my insights from the "Strategic L&D that Makes a Difference" panel. Derek Bruce - Chartered FCIPD, Leadership and Culture Manager at TESCO, shared his perspective which really inspired me: *Leaders in organisations are the people with great influence. Will what they know and capable of doing now be enough in future? Maybe they don't know what to do and how. Help your leaders be comfortable being uncomfortable. Listen to them, have an open dialog. What if they DON'T DO something in particular? What will be the impact of not doing or doing something? - this might be the starting point in the conversation. Find things out: what is important and how it leads them to their goals. *And what about people impacted? How will the leaders engage employees with the strategy and their goals? And one thing that really impressed me: in TESCO they have Store Days. They physically spend 2 days every half a year to observe and PARTICIPATE in what are the employees' daily routine! I believe that is what we all should start (or continue) doing in our L&D roles! Oh, look! The CEO of Quilmes is sharing the *secret sauce* for market leadership. Apparently, it involves just a sprinkle of discipline, a dash of focus, and a heaping tablespoon of constant learning. Who knew? Martín Ticinese claims that balancing these four pillars is the key to success. He’s also spilling the beans on the importance of building a brand through emotional connections with consumers. Because obviously, we've all been doing it the wrong way until now. Never underestimate the power of support and championing others. Years ago I was in the earlier stages of building my global leadership mentoring practice. I literally started from ground zero. No clients. No clear definition of my offer let alone my ‘niche’. What I did have in spades was an absolute burning desire and determination to create something that would make a bloody good difference to the world and senior leaders. I invested, what was a big budget back then, in attending a leadership conference where I had the absolute pleasure of meeting the incredible power house and force for making things that matter happen Tania Hector. This began my journey with #Nestlè and #CerealPartners. My first client was Alistair Lee who was a true delight to partner. I owe a lot to Alistair as he helped me as much as I helped him. At the time I was concluding my programme with him, we got the horrible news my Mum had Bowel Cancer. We are the lucky ones as she went on to make a full recovery post surgery- but I didn’t know this at the time. Understandably my energy and hunger for growth and development for my business was very low. All I could think of was my Mum. Alistair, being the absolute sales master and commercial legend that he is, kept encouraging me to grow my relationship across Nestlè. He went out of his way to back me. His support and encouragement made all the difference and, to not let him down, I got back in my own ‘sales saddle’. We all need that person to help us take the next step and hold us accountable. Fast forward 7 years, I’ve been a perferred partner to Nestlè for all this time working across many areas of the business with amazing senior leaders and am currently working with Cereal Partners’ UK&I senior leadership team, which includes Alistair. What a lovely circle! So thank you Alistair. ❤️ It was your championing of me when my world tilted and your wonderful support that lead to me and my business growing in so many ways. I am forever grateful. And to Tania for originally championing that solopreneur way back in the early days! Never underestimate the impact those gentle nudges and offers to help can make. From tiny acorns to giant oaks really does happpen! Who has helped you just because they could and who would you like to thank? #gratitude #leadership #growth #executivecoaching #coach

On my way back from a board day in Melbourne where we took time away from a normally packed board agenda and instead focused on how we accelerate growth, sustainability, talent and leadership, risk culture and digital agenda. I also took a day out of the schedule to meet with business leaders and visited two Melbourne sites. At the Kmart site, Steve Batsakis and Nick Perry took Geoff Wilson FAICD and I around the site. We saw the improvements that has been made operationally to improve productivity and throughput - and how that has had a positive impact financially as well as in safety outcomes. Despite more than 30 years in the industry, I still get a massive kick from seeing how we help move the businesses that move the world! Well done to the entire team. #proudobetoll #supplychain
