This #SuicidePreventionWeek, I challenge you to take a moment to reach out and ask someone how they are truly doing. Recent data highlights that for Hispanic children aged 12 and younger, the suicide rate increased by 92.3% from 2010 to 2019, according to a study in the Journal of Community Health. This alarming rise underscores the need for open conversations and support. Cultural stigma often prevents many Hispanic individuals from speaking out about mental health struggles. It’s time to break down these barriers and foster a culture of acceptance and understanding. Reach out, listen, and support those around you. Change starts with us. #MentalHealthAwareness #EndTheStigma

Did you know that people of color are less likely to receive mental health care services? National Minority Mental Health Month (July) helps bring awareness to the health disparities that can lead to poor mental health outcomes for black, indigenous, Hispanic, Asian and other people of color. These groups are more likely to be negatively affected by social determinants of health, which include factors like economic stability, access to quality education and health care, safe neighborhoods and community support. By providing culturally sensitive and accessible mental health care, Community Health Centers like Mosaic are helping to address the persistent behavioral health disparities rooted in systemic racism. We are dedicated to providing quality care for all and striving for health equity so that everyone can get the help and support they need to thrive.
