✨ 2024: A Near Ending Turned Beginning ✨
2024 year was a turning point in my life. I survived one of the most traumatic accidents—an event so rare it occurs in only 1% of orthopedic cases worldwide. Behind the scars and struggles, I discovered a strength I never knew I had and a recovery journey that even shocked my own medical team.
I had to explore unfathomable depths of darkness alone but luckily, my family stood by me, their support lighting my path.
Whilst I was victimized, I refuse to stay a victim of the circumstances. We all will be dealt unexpected deck of cards at some point I'm just learning to play and work with the deck I have sooner.
Overall, this experience gave me a renewed sense of purpose and urgency—to live fully. While I'm still making peace out of the pieces, today, every step I take is a gift I’ll never take for granted.
I am a walking miracle and this will forever be my biggest accomplishment in life.
However in 2024:
✈️ Some said I'd never walk again, so I walked the Great Wall of China 🇨🇳
🏆 A community I founded NYCWCC #NYCWCC Earned a nomination for Top Community for Women in Tech in NYC
🏆I earned a prestigious nomination for the #Trailblazer award at my company
🎤 I spoke on prestigious forums on using AI for autonomous vehicles in Hong Kong.
🎤 I brought employees together in reflection and dance during #LatinoHeritageMonth
💻 I built community at AFROTECH hosting the first #remoteworkers event with Afro Adventurer, blending my love of technology, community, and culture.
🌍 Traveled to my maternal lands in Peru and met family for the first time. I also connected with global communities from NYC to Bali, to Malaysia and beyond.
But beyond the milestones, this year was about transformation:
🌟 I turned devastation into triumph, channeling my personal journey into impactful contributions.
🌟 I poured into my community and watched them pour into themselves and each other, showing me that adversity can fuel purpose and impact
🌟 I embarked on a solo travel expedition post-accident thousands of miles away from home traveling to 4 Asian countries, proving that life after adversity can be beautiful.
After a near-paralyzing accident, I was told I might not walk, let alone travel. But here I am, defied medical odds, living with urgency, and embracing life as the #AfroLatinaAdventurer. Every step I take is a reminder of my strength, resilience, and the power of living boldly.
To anyone doubting their ability to overcome the impossible: You are stronger than you think.
🍾 Here’s to resilience, purpose, and the journey ahead. Let’s make 2025 extraordinary!
