🌍🧠 Today, on #WorldMentalHealthDay, we shine a light on the mental health challenges faced by youth across the globe. Half of all mental health disorders begin by age 14, yet many go undetected and untreated. Depression and anxiety are now among the leading causes of illness and disability in adolescents, and suicide ranks alarmingly high as a leading cause of death among 15–19-year-olds. Violence, poverty, stigma, and exclusion all play a role in increasing the risk of mental health struggles in youth. Prevention starts with understanding. Let's commit to having critical conversations about mental health, supporting the well-being of young people, and taking action in our communities to address the mental health crisis. Together, we can help break the silence and create a world where every young person feels seen, supported, and safe. 💚 #MentalHealthMatters #YouthMentalHealth #EndTheStigma #BreakTheSilence

As we observe Mental Health Awareness Month, it's vital to acknowledge the reality many face in the United States: 1 in 5 U.S. adults experience mental illness each year. Only 47.2% of U.S. adults with mental illness received treatment in 2021. 1 in 20 U.S. adults experience serious mental illness annually. Only 65.4% of U.S. adults with serious mental illness received treatment in 2021. 1 in 6 U.S. youth have a mental health condition, yet only half receive treatment. 50% of all lifetime mental illness begins by age 14, and 75% by age 24. These statistics highlight the urgent need for accessible mental health services and the importance of early intervention. Sometimes, what appears to be the smallest of steps from another person's perspective takes the most amount of courage for us. According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) and data from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA): 1 in 5 U.S. adults (approximately 57.8 million people) experience mental illness each year. Of these, about 1 in 20 U.S. adults, or about 14 million people, experience serious mental illness annually, which significantly impacts their ability to carry out daily activities. For youths aged 6-17, about 1 in 6 experience a mental health disorder each year, totaling approximately 7.7 million children. The truth is, that we all struggle with our own issues to one extent or another. And even if our issues don't put us among those statistics, many people close to us are. But while we might extend compassion and understanding toward others when we see others going through something, so often we respond to our own challenges with guilt or even shame. There are days when the most I can do is get myself out of bed or out the door. And there are days when that is just too much. And I know I'm far from alone in that. So if you see fit to continue showing grace and support toward others, why not extend compassion toward yourself? #personaldevelopment #humanresources #community #mentalhealthawareness #mindfullness
