✈️ Happy Friday - We have just wrapped up work on a precision approach path indicator (PAPI) positioning for the new runway at Al Maktoum International Airport in Dubai. Al Maktoum International Airport, also known as Dubai World Central, is an international airport in Jebel Ali, 37 kilometres southwest of Dubai, United Arab Emirates, that opened on 27 June 2010. It is the main part of Dubai South, a planned residential, commercial and logistics complex. Located in Dubai South, Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC) is set to become the world's largest airport, handling 260 million passengers and 12 million tonnes of cargo annually. Strategically positioned near Emaar South and Expo City Dubai, it’s a hub for global travel, trade, and logistics. Cutting-edge infrastructure and future metro connectivity drive Dubai’s growth as a worldwide destination. This $30B project is a monumental step for aviation. Extreme weather has always been an operational risk. Plan to get better at it. Predictive diagnostics and mitigation measures are evolving. But in time? Anticipated rising claims may be here for the next millenium. Forecasted frequency and severity will leave little choice for better protecting business and community continuity with more resilient planning. The real question remains. Will our reimagined risk mitigation services and technologies sufficiently evolve in time? Cultural imperatives will tell the tale, once corrected for disinformation and misinformation. How Dubai metro expansion looks like? 🚇 By 2030, the number of metro lines is set to increase from 2 to 6 with trains running at speeds of up to 110 km/h, adding approximately 400 kilometers to Dubai's metro network for a total of 197 stations. 🔴 Line 1 - extension 🟢 Line 2 - extension 🟣 Line 3 - new 🔵 Line 4 - new 🟡 Line 5 - new 🩷 Line 6 - new The integration of hyperloop technology is also being considered for ultra-fast travel between Dubai and Abu Dhabi. In most trains there are 3 cabin categories: Gold Class Cabin equipped with luxurious leather seats and panoramic windows, Women and Children Cabin providing privacy for the named ones, and Standard Class Cabin. Noticeably two lines will connect DXB to Al Maktoum international airports - the Blue Line (30 km) and the Purple Line (49 km). The Future Largest Airport in the World The scale of some of the buildings in the Middle East is staggering. Kuwait is planning a 3,300 ft. skyscraper. Saudi Arabia's LINE project is slated to span 70 miles. Dubai is now planning an airport with an annual capacity of 260 million passengers. To put that in perspective, the busiest airport in the world is currently Hartsfield in Atlanta with 104 million annual passengers. Dubai International is second with 86 million, so this is roughly 36% more than the next two largest airports COMBINED. To be fair, Al Maktoum Airport will probably replace Dubai International. Still, that's a lot of new air traffic.
